Title: Cost Vs. Result
Post by: Colorado700R on February 04, 2010, 08:05:32 PM
What would it cost a friend to replicate your current build?
Lots of people wonder what it costs for a certain level of build, Lets post up our current builds components costs, and the performance results the build produced.

All new, no used components, just the price the average Joe would have to pay.

My 727 Stroker

COST

Power commander III- $259 http://fuelmotousa.com/power_commander.htm

FCI intake- $234 http://www.tqsatv.com/proddetail.php?prod=FCI-fuel-customs-intake

+5 hotrods crank-$285 http://www.tqsatv.com/products.php?cat=63

Some of my parts are older so I my prices might be a little off.
54mm TB w/58mm intake- $600 White Knuckle
PCIII-                           $259 Fuel Motto
DynoJet ignition              $325 Fuel Motto (might be cheaper now)
HR+5 crank /ballanced     $389 WK
105.5 cylinder                $900 WK  (I'm taking a guess on this one)
CP 10:75                       $190 WK
RE head                        $600 had a special going
X4 cam                         $210 WK
HD springs                     $165 WK
DD lock out                   $400 with cover exchange ( not sure if you can get this price anymore)
Barker big bore W/SA/QC $775
Dyno tune/ temp gauge   $250   (Rooster, next month)
Denso pink injector          $120
Total                            $5083    (did it in my head someone double check)

Result                           Dyno is next month, but was just shy of 80hp and just over 55tq before TB and injector upgrade. I'll guess                           82hp/57tq.
These prices are guestimates. Some of the parts I have for almost 3 yrs. Others I paid less than most people would....one of the benefits of spending almost $10000 with one builder over the past 2 1/2 yrs.

good info guys, big build or small bolt ons....it don't matter.  Understanding options availble and there benefits vs costs is the reason I started on the forums in the first place, and hopefully we can help others make good decisions.

Some of this was a package deal but here goes:
Big 3 Barkers, TRF Intake, PCV = 1052.00
11.5:1 Tech Piston, HCIII= 365.00
Head Porting= 199.00
DynaTek Programmable Programmer= 229.00
DynaTek Programmed= 40.00
+3 T.B.= 170.00
Total so far spent= $2055.00

No dyno results yet but will be finding out in the next month or so, hoping for mid 60 HP + range.
If I get get 65 hp and stock is say 42 hp thats a 23 HP gain so that means I have spent $89.34 per HP for 23 HP.  Oh well it's alot more fun to ride.

Here's mine then;

Motoworks pipe with a GYTR header  $400

FCI intake  $220
Kennies +3 TB  Free
Kennies evac valve  $65

Dyna Programable (TRF used) $200

Total engine work so far  $1700

yea you should have no problem hitting that mark.  you have the mods I want to do.  Jayson at rocket factory said that if I did what you have done I would be high 68 69 maybe 70 hp.

TRF's dyno reads about 7hp higher than others. I had a SS/SB motor that dyno'd 69hp on that dyno and then 63 on another. A friend of mine dyno'd at 75hp and then 67hp on another dyno. Not trying to rain on your parade, just thought you would want to know.
