Title: Bike dyno'ed and not happy
Post by: shrimpy21 on September 16, 2009, 01:35:38 PM
Ok,had my bike dynoed today and im pissed  :( ,and thinking it was a waste of money on the latest mods.My mods are monster duals, texas intake,pro-tec lid,+3 TB,PC3,CP 11:1 piston,RJ cam,HD springs and BO's updated P&P.

The guy who dynoed it,did say his Dyna pro dyno is very accurate and most Dyno-jet dynoe's read 10%-15% higher than his one.I did mention about the air/fuel line not being striaght and he said its because the dyno is very responsive.

What do you guys think

I would think it is more than that. But...maybe the air in the UK is thick.

There is still power left in there judging from the air fuel line.  Responsive dyno or not the goal is for that to be a flat line, I'd look to the tuner for a better tune.

I know how you feel Shrimpy, I've been bummed out after every mod that it didn't feel like a rocket after spending the money, but everytime I modded I got faster and it was noticeable after racing the same guys as usual.  I'm now quite used to not feeling like it doubled in power everytime and I'm still always happy after racing and seeing gains.  The only way you're going to be totally stoked about new power is if you gain at least 15-20 horsepower in one shot, a 5 horse gain is un noticeable to me on the feel of the pants.  Keep modding buddy!

Shrimpy.

did you already have bo's ported head?

to me it sounds like you didn't do anything "Extreme" to give it that big bump in power feel.

maybe if you found someone w/ a stock bike and rode yours.

I feel like mine is slow. but I got to ride my buds 2 weekends ago.... stock sucks

i would say get the af flattend out and you should see some more power and may just go to your last place that did it before to see results on same dyno.gl man sorry it isnt what i was hoping for :(

talk to DL see what he thinks sense he has dyno 24/7 he might be able to tweak you map or something

Thanks Jake, you have been a really big help

You not only sold me some quality parts, you order me my piston and TB and then ship it all in one go to save shipping costs to the UK and now you are even trying your best to sort my map out from the otherside of the pond.

You are one top guy

what baselined??I made 48hp with big 3 and dynatek ignition, was told by the dyno guy the dynatek was junk.So i sold that.Done head, cam, piston,TB and only got 55hp

What Bo is asking is did you make 48 and then re dyno on the same dyno or did you use a different dyno this time?  If you changed dyno's you don't know if you gained more or less than 7 horsepower.  LOL, I just looked at your start point on the power run and I'm pretty sure your bike makes a little more than 3 horsepower at 3000rpms.  I'm curious how accurate this dyno is rpm wise, if it is, that RJ cam is making peak horsepower at 7600 rpms

with the big 3 he made 48 on same type of dyno but not the exact one this is also a different shop as well

Ahh, OK. There is more than likely a difference there. Same type tires? there will be another thing to look at? The A/F curve isnt the worst Ive seen by far so hp is about were its gonna be with maybe a 1-2hp gain by tweakin the map.

I don't think it's that bad. Maybe get another 1-2.5hp from tuning (like bo said)... I think Coops, with a "similar" build did 61hp on DL's dyno (bo head, RJ cam, 11:1 stock bore) but he also had Dynatek and FCI... I think you're  right there on power, and too caught up in numbers

you have way more done to your bike than mine. I dynoed at 62 hp, on rocket factory's dyno. I was at 52hp before the hot cams 3 and custom curves. I gained 10 hp with a cam. you should be able to kill my bike with your mods.
