I remember when the outlaw was FIRST was unvailed. We (the guys at predatorowners.com)  had an insider that worked for polaris that was at the dealer show that snook us some camera phone shots before ANYONE eles know about it. Pretty cool, there was 250+members online at 1 in the morning. The thread make 20 pages in a matter of and hour or two.

Not even yamahwheels 'er I mean dirtwheels knew what it looked like :P

Yamaha is disclosing little about the 2009 Raptor 700 but promises to unveil a product with impressive features, and a special edition that goes beyond color choice.
"Our development team worked tirelessly with product manufacturers and utilized Internet forum groups to make improvements riders said they were looking for," said Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing division president Genichi Kawakami.
"The RF edition will provide the resources required to obtain a broader reach and attract more hard core enthusiasts. It will have a stronger motor, offer more to the technical rider, keep the Raptor platform up-to-date and bring additional features to the Raptor riding community."

I typed it up myself. I'm a writer.

I meant it as a joke. I thought the name of the GYTR guy would have given it away (Genichi Kawakami was the founder of Yamaha Motors; the guy who put Yamaha bikes on the map).

There is no RF edition that I'm aware of. But there is an RF, from which I took the everything will become better information: "How will ATV.com help this community? .... They will host the site on better servers, offer more technical resources to address technical issues, help keep the forum up-to-date and bring more forum features to our community."

Perhaps it's too soon to make jokes considering the situation? If so my bad.

2009 Raptors feature a new digital meter.

New options for 2009:

*Raptor 700R is now the first sport ATV with a digital meter. Newly designed meter provides speedometer, dual trip meters, odometer, clock, warning indicators for coolant and low fuel, plus neutral and reverse indicators.

*New SOQI piggyback shocks have 5mm longer stroke for excellent sport-riding comfort, with high- and low-speed compression adjustability, rebound and preload adjustability, and 9.1-inch travel.

*Thumb throttle lever has a new, smooth shape for a feel riders will appreciate, with less fatigue at the end of the day.
Front-end styling has been updated, with a new look for the front cowl.

*Special Edition gets a wave-type rear disc for great braking ability and race-ready looks, plus special front grab bar and footwells.

Diggin the red/white/black color scheme on the plain 700, not bad.

Can't believe yfz450 still unchanged. I was hoping for Wolverine 450 changes too. Grizzly 700 is still badass, but don't like the red SE.

No doubt, although the magazines need to stop blowing smoke up Yami's ass saying that they're still competitive.  I'm glad there not just lowering the quad to gain stablitiy like the suzuli though, it makes it real tough to trail a 450 when its that low.

The Suzuki 450 has been out three years now?

Yamaha has had ample time to develop something. Especially having R&D with the Raptor's fuel injection system.

I still don't understand why they cannot treat the black plastic so it holds up like the faux carbon fiber hoods they put on the '06 SE. Both my hoods are as shiny as the day I bought them. And they've been through some serious shit.
If they could do that the black '09 would be incredible.

That new red Grizz is sick ! I want one SO DAMN BAD -um, for the woman, of course.  :grin_nod:

I'm glad they put out that 550 too. That's a good bike - and they didn't take away the key features because it's not their top-of-the line like manufacturers sometimes do. That's nice. Ain't a whole lot cheaper than the 700 though.

Yamaha is stupid not putting the FI onto the 450. Seriously , what are they thinking ? They're losing hard core Blue riders. Honda hasn't done it yet either have they ? Once Big Red does it, they'll have to - period.

my buddy said he heard something about Yam having trouble with FI being too "twitchy" on tracks. So they prefer to stay with the carb. for better response. Sounds like it should be opposite to me.

i really like the new indash digital meter, it would have been worth waiting to get my 08 for the 09's. i wonder if there would be anyway to get the new meter for an 08 in the future?

im pretty sure theyll make a kit for it. im questioning if i should get the se, looks sweet but the scratches will suck, also since 09's are coming they might have a sale on the 08's so they should be even cheaper??? ???

Showed my wife the page after work, she is on board to get the boy that Rappy 90 for Xmas  Lucky lil' bastard.

I'm thinking awful hard about sayin bye-bye to the 660 then too. Not for the SE though, couldn't deal with the black, I ride the crap outta my quads. I would go Blue Raptor all the way, just really diggin the gauge package-great idea, easy upgrade by yamaha.

I do think that the meter on my 08' would be cool but not sure about how much it would distract me.  I would constantly be looking at it, not to mention thats just more weight(as little as it is) that i dont want.  Its bad enough trying to build the bike to pull me around.  I am 6'6" and 250 so it takes a little extra giddy up.

I think the dash is a great idea. Several people install this as an aftermarket add, so kudos to Yamaha for adding it.

Shame on Yamaha for not making the YFZ450 a fuel injected ride.

But there is one down side, no tach.  That kinda bugs me.

And who knows why they didn't go efi.  But even with carbs they are still the fastest 450 out there.

I really dont understand the big fuss about the FI. If you have ever rode a WELL tuned FCR carb and then step on a raptor there really is not that much difference between the two.

But hell, that just my humble opinion.

Carbs are ok (I still like min just fine) but,
I think we're all just rooting for yamaha to keep up with the other manufacturers.

I really only like FI for the "plug and play" factor. No warming up, removing plastic rejetting, etc.

Plus comparing raptors efi to a well tuned carb on a 450 is apples and oranges.  I would like to see a well tuned carb 450 and then try the same but with efi.

I went with my buddy to the stealership last week and we were discussing our disappointment in regards to the 09 YFZ450.  The dealer said that the rumours about a 500cc four stroke twin banshee are true, and that yamaha is trying to tame the motor because its too much for a quad right now (He said it's pushing 100hp).  He said he got his info from Yamaha itself, but I think the guy is just a  :jerkoff:

Agreed, and yamaha would be law suit central if they were to ever release a super high HP quad like that.

New SOQI piggyback shocks have 5mm longer stroke for excellent sport-riding comfort, with high- and low-speed compression adjustability, rebound and preload adjustability, and 9.1-inch travel.

hmm, wonder how much better they'll be vs the current ones
