Title: Plug Color ?
Post by: 22Chet on May 23, 2008, 04:37:30 PM
Was changing my oil today so i thought i should clean my air filter and check my plug. My filter was pretty dirty and my plug looks blacker than it should be. Tell me what you think  ???

I believe krandall has a map for that, check his signature for the link.  also is your Accel pump option enabled?
Title: Re: Plug Color ?
Post by: 22Chet on May 23, 2008, 05:06:00 PM
yes, Accel pump is enabled. The map he has is for GYtR exhaust and 11:1 piston and HC stage 2. which would prolly be just as rich if not richer ?
Title: Re: Plug Color ?
Post by: Colorado700R on May 23, 2008, 05:13:57 PM
yes, it would be richer.  Try diabling the accel pump option
Title: Re: Plug Color ?
Post by: 22Chet on May 23, 2008, 05:16:21 PM
would that affect it performance wise ?

Your to rich now, so your loosing power.  If you diable it, and the map is correct you'll gain power.

isnt there an option to lean the whole map out ? would that be better doing it that way or just turn the accel pump off and see how it is ?

You can lean the map, but the accel pump isn't helping you.

We can find you a map   But we need to see what your current map is doing first.  The Accel pump is masking whether your map is correct or not.  Clean the plug, diable the AP, and ride the crap out of it for an hour or so.  Then do another plug chop.

People seem to think the Accel pump is a performance mod, IMO it's a band aid for a poor map. Some even use it when there map is already good, but they think it's gonna work like a double pumping carb.

not so.

I could take the laptop out right now and check the map i have and turn accel pump off, but how do i report what map i have ?

Not at my laptop right now, so I can't look at the software, but I believe you can record the map from the PC3???

k im in the garage with the lap top hooked up to the PCIII i saved the map to the desktop and can email it to you if you would like to check it out. How do i turn Accel pump off all i see is where to adjust it, right now its set on 80/20/20... its one of the factory maps with GYTR Slip on, GYTR intake and Lid off.

i just turned the accel pump from 80/20/20 to 0/20/20 which should be the same as off correct ?

NO!!!!!!

That's adding fuel at zero throttle!!!!! take all numbers to zero!!!!

they only go to 1...should i take them to 1 ?

How the PC would interpert that is.. When the Throttle is 0% open add 20 somethin fuel and 20 something else   (I know the first is throttle position at least

k well i can change the first one to 0 so it would have to be 0/1/1

Post by: 22Chet on May 24, 2008, 05:49:31 PM
k i turned the accel pump off and the map is still wrong cause if i blip the throttle from idle it stalls. should i lean just the begining of the map out of the whole thing ? Also how do u do that ?

EDIT
If i keep blipping it while idleing it will eventually kill it. So i put the stock exhaust and stock air filter with lid off map on and blipped it and it didnt stutter like usual and came up. But i know im running way lean so imma put the old map back on and try to lean the begining out somehow...

not sure, but with the second number to 1, the duration is set to every RPM, that could cause your problems, try taking the slide to 100.

when you have your dynojet screen up, there should be some top drop down menus, there is an option to disable the pump completely.

black is too rich or burning oil...

i dont think its burning oil, it shouldnt be. Has low hours and i just changed the oil again and it drained quite a bit out but i didnt measure it to make sure it was all 2 quarts.

Do you think the accel pump is a good feature?  I didn't know about it and I want to try it...  However, I feel like I have a pretty good map and don't want to screw up what is running good.... I do want some extra quickness though....  Don't we all....

Thanks

IMO, the accel pump is a bandaid for a bad map.  If your map is on, the AP will make you slower, not faster.

Not enough air to burn cleanly all the gaz that is injected, so you lose all that potential power also making that blackish color which is simply carbon deposite which will end up making a higher C/R ( compression ratio ) making an even richer evironment.... in other words, it's not good.

The opposite is still not good. Too much air in the air/gaz mixture create more horsepower, but it hurt the engine because of the excess heat that is created. Burned valve is an example.

Hope it help.

accelerator pump is feature that help richen your A/F ratio when suddenly opening the throttle which creates a lean transition. the amount of fuel does not have to be that much, to the contrary of carburated system, which requires much more squirted into the intake tracts.
