Title: Secondary Coolant Return Line
Post by: Mtneer Man on January 04, 2009, 08:14:21 PM
Ive got my bike torn down and noticed there was a smaller coolant line goin from just below the thermostat to the radiator. Im setting my bike up for 300 ft drags and was wondering if this was needed or if it was ok to remove this and only run the main coolant return line.

Are you going to be running an OEM bored TB or are you gonna run an aftermarket billet TB ?

Hopefully an aftermarket.

There's no provision for the coolant lines in the A.M. TB's that I am aware of, so you'll need to plug those off.

So I can plug the lines that went to the oem tb and the line goin to the radiator from the head (not the main) but the smaller one.

Pluging the line from the head to the rad doesn't sound right.....let me look on mine with the OEM TB tonight and I'll get back to you.  Hopefully Grant, aka Digital hearing sees this or someone else with an AM TB and chimes in.

Thanks Randy, if i do end up needing it it is no big deal, just tryin to clean up the engine area and thought it looked like that might not be needed.

i may be wrong but isn't that the bi-pass line. for when the engine isn't warmed up enough to pop the thermostat open the coolant bi-passes through there. but i like i said i could be wrong.  ???

I think were talking about different hoses here.   The only thing you eliminate or disconnect from when running the A.M. TB's is the two small diameter hose's that run coolant thru the TB for the temp activated fuel enrichment circuit....to the best of my knowledge.
