Just FYI for you guys who ride higher altitudes

Supposedly the dyno is reading back to where it always has according to Aaron, he seems to be good at keeping it running in good repair.  As far as racing a bike that always runs the same, he races me everytime we ride together, so we have a good comparison.  I'd say his bike is MAYBE 1 bikelenght faster than last year on a very long sand racetrack.  I totally agree with Aaron on the high altitude port jobs(he cleaned mine up a little for me) that there is a trade off between flow and velocity when you don't have enough air.  That's why we can get away with a very high compression ratio on pump gas .  That being said Aj, I know what will make you get the power you need out of that Kenz head.  The turbo laying on my garage floor :P

Lets freakin DO IT!!  :grin_nod:  Its just might be a PITA to get mapped in right

I'm sure you already did this, but gonna throw it out there.  Did you double check you cam timing??

Go to Bo :P :P

Seriously, there isnt much eles that it could be.

Maybe the head was ported for someone eles needs and its just a matter of mixed mached parts. Maybe you can find out for sure what that head was ported for and compair what you current build is.

If that head was ported for an all out drag racer with BIG CAMS, BIG CC'c, and BIG COMPRESSION, then that could explain whats going on.

Just a little 81hp trail bike.

Ya i bought the head off a guy on RF.  Tried to contact him a couple times after I bought it but haven't heard a thing from him.

Heres the timing setup I have right now.  Is this correct?

Its hard to tell from the pics, but it kinda looks like it may be off a tooth. I did notice that it will not line up EXACTLY. No matter what the cam will be off a degree or two.

Yeah I was told it was supposed to be 1/16" behind the mark at the top of the head and lined up with the I at the flywheel.  Seems to me that is the way it is but just seems weird that my timing was stupid one tooth before, so I advanced it one and I got pretty much the same numbers on the dyno but a better overall curve.  The previous curve fell flat on its face @ 7k rpm.

This is

Supposedly 1 tooth stupid timing.  Look how it falls on its face @ 7k rpm.

Thats just weird man, I dont really know much about the 700r cam, but I know on the predators the cam can spin seperately from the gear and it looks like you in time by the gear, but the cam itself has moved.

Short of just tossing on a stock head I am at a loss.

LOL, been there done that. Both me and my buddy use to have predators and we took them to the dyno and he made 1 more HP than I did. When all he had was the 574 BBK and I had 574 BBK, cams, P&P and oversized valves. Some times I love dyno, but most of the time I hate them

I agree that the lack of air at 8000 feet combined with a big cam, big valves, and a monster port job with the stock displacement and only mild compression is probably the issue here.  If you were to crank the compression ratio up I will bet the power follows.  Put a 14:1 piston in there and see what happens.  You should be able to unload the 11:1 pretty easy in the For Sale section.

I've seen those KENZ heads work well with 12.5 to 1 CPs  :grin_nod:

Dude I am already poor from trying to keep up with Troy and Kiel.  I'm going to have to sell this thing soon or buy a differently "modded" 700.  :grin_nod:.

But yea it was just put into perspective for me.  It makes sense after what Russ said.  I am at the minimum of what this setup will do.  Kiels runs a lot better than mine because he has a 12.5:1 and a slightly longer duration than I have on my cam.

I'm just tired of tearing this thing apart and trying to get all the dyno tuning lined up  ::) ::)
