Tag Metals Railer Skid
« on: June 28, 2008, 01:34:38 PM »
Kenneth, I was wondering if you had any idea on where or how I could get my paws on of these?

Like this one here....http://store.albaaction.com/shop/6010-BK.html

I called Alba about it but said TagMetals has been recently bought out and they're out of these and do not know if they'll ever see them again....

I was pointed in your direction for possible help with this....

I bought one & had an issue with a rock trying to remove one of the rear mounts.
I came up with the idea of a 2 layer skid plate, aluminum & plastic.  I may take my Tag skid & glue/rivet it to 1/8 aluminum & remount it.

You gave me an idea....

Drilling some holes and riveting it on would be your best bet...Would be a permanent fix compared to gluing. Just get some countersunk pop-rivets and be sure to slide a small washer over the end of the tail so that the rivet doesn't pull through on the plastic side.....You'll want to countersink the holes on the aluminun side.

If I ever run into the same problem that you have mentioned this is what I'll be doing as well.
