Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Expedition and in the right parts of town even the Escalade/Navigator are all tainted with the Soccer mom stigma.  Gotta love the idea of spending 20k more than a minivan to buy a giant SUV to drive on city streets and highways using three times as much fuel just so other men don't think you have a small cock.

If anything a minivan should be a signal of fertility, showing the rest of the world that your junk works just fine with no viagra or turkey basters in sight.

this coming from the guy with the pint sized suv... lol     Wife picked the SUV and it does get 22mpg and is v8 and awd...     :batman:

New Caddy CTS-V Wagon  8)  Hard to laugh at a guy driving a station wagon when he's blowing your doors off at 160 mph+

i would love to spend 80k on the audi q7, heck i could even buy an armada.  Truth is that the titan works just fine, lots of room and with a toneau cover it would do even better.  The problem is that even 22mpg isnt good enough, not even close.  None of the vehicles you have listed get the 36mpg that a dodge caravan gets.  We live 35km to the nearest center, and we drive 150km to the nearest city on a regular basis for dr. appts and such.  on top of that the minivan has 2 dvd screens, a sporty suspension and 285hp.  It also has the stow and go and i can haul 4x8 sheets of plywood, and ive even seen a rappy loaded in one as well  ;) . Trust me it hasnt been an easy decision to go to a minivan, and truth be told if i find something else that meets my criteria i will get that instead.  Im not trying to cheap out, its just there is a serious lack of options.

Meh, suv's are just station wagons that are built to "look" like trucks. And people buy them in droves...And I need the seats... Overpriced, under-engineered...... My minivan has a 4500 lb tow rating. What does it not have that an SUV has?  Oh 4x4? Is my wife going to be mudding any time soon? doubtful. THere are no really compelling SUV's on the market that would make me change my mind right now.

Cadillacs are just chevy(which I wont buy). Dodge SUV just sucks. Jeeps are tiny inside, NIssan, well I just hate nissan right now I dig the Armada. I'd buy a Ford, but so much $ for less space, less mpg, same tow rating.....

The new Ford Explorer is close to being a minivan itself underneath that body, if you could remove it.  It's all about perception, which is why the midsize SUV segment has turned into a bunch of soft roaders built on car platforms.  As long as they still look the part the majority of buyers don't care.
