I want to do a 180 at the top of a dune and throw mass roost over the top like all the big boys do in the videos. But when I try I dig in and almost roll the quad - or over rotate.
How do y'all do it?

Lean forward and to the inside corner. Like way forward. Over the bars.

Throttle timing is important too. about a quater of the way through hit it!

I've only done it in dirt, on hills and stuff. I would say it would be the same as sand if not harder. So it should be the same

Krandall

Do you have straight paddles or something like sandstars?

no guts no glory.

Guts aint the problem. I just can't get the 180 down while throwing roost.

As for paddles: I use straight paddles.

I found w/ my extremes I had. I couldn't get the backend around to do that. I could, but it required a LOT of body english to do so.

With my Sand Stars. It's honestly effortless.

+1 with v shaped paddles, throttle will help you steer. The straight blades will require much more effort.

Seems to be what I'm encountering. I'm able to kick the rear out but I really have to go for it - which usually means over rotating and the rear of the quad getting ahead of me.
Maybe it's time for a set of Sand Stars. Thanks for the help.

yeah with the v's you can throttle while you steer. WIth straights, you leay off, start turning, then give it gas to straighten out.

Sandeater

This is my body language   I didn't know I was getting photoed and this was more of going up a slight incline at an angle rather than straight on but maybe gives you an idea...

Not to embarass you or anything but I could have my 12 yr old daughter show you how to do it!!!!    Oh and this was her first trip to the dunes.

But she did have a little towards the end as she was having so much fun roosting and using the same spot to do it.
