New needle valves

I'm cleaning my carbs and I put in new needle valves. They didn't leak before I changed them, but now as soon as I turn the gas on, the bowls overflow after about 10 seconds. I've put these in before on other quads and never had this much trouble, but am I missing something? I've looked at everything. I can see one leaking, but they both leak equally as fast. This is really pissing me off....can someone help?

The seats are new, also. The valves look the same length. Even if I put the old valves in the new seats, they still leak.

are the floats tweaked? odd that both would do it.

Sounds like maybe your floats are off, like not closing when they should. There's a little retainer 'tang' that can easily bend and throuw the floats out of whack. I had this issue (oppsite though, my left carb was starving for fuel)  about a year ago after the bike sitting over the winter, no tinkering was even done to the carbs. Once I got the float level corrected it worked just fine.

Yeah, I adjusted the float level tang, but it didn't do anything.
I put the old seats back in and it holds fuel fine. WTF! The new ones look identical. I'm just gonna keep the old ones in. Thanks for the posts.  :)

Oh they're holding alright, but now I lost my spark again.  :mad: :mad: :mad: I can start it up and it'll run for 10 seconds, and then kill. Then it wont fire except for a few little sparks here and there. If I let it sit for a few hours, it'll start and then do the same thing.
The pulse coil went bad a few months back because that went bad and I changed that. Now I have this problem. You guys are probably getting sick of me posting all these problems. I know how to fix most of this stuff, but these problems are so odd to me. Could the battery be bad? It reads out about 12.5 volts, but I dont know. I thought maybe the ignition system isn't getting enough voltage.
I didn't have 1 problem the first 3 1/2 years I owned this quad, but now it's all piling up...

I think I found the problem. The plug cap is open. Is that a resistor or a fuse inside? And where can I find the best new cap?

chances are it's a resistor. I know on the 700, they have a resistor inside as well.

One of the "cool" things for the 700 you can do is use an automotive plug wire/cap to get rid of it to give you a bit better spark, may be worth giving that a try.

Well I found a 10 ohm resistor and fixed it, but still no spark. I'm ready to set fire to this thing.....

you have pulled the plug and double checked that there is no spark at all? Or just weak, or out of time? or random? Is the plug wire rotting? Hmmm. If it was the resistor, you would think it was completely gone.

It would spark every now and then, and now it's completely gone.

It's the stator. I took it off and found a burnt coil. Damn. I was hoping I could of fixed it.
