What have you guys heard good or bad about the Keltec PMR30 ? I've been told it was factory recalled due to mag feed problems but that's been solved & the factory is filling orders slowly. Be prepared to wait up to a year for delivery.

Yeah.....After doing some reading I don't know if the PMR30 is all its hyped up to be. The advantages of a .22 mag round vs a .22lr are diminished with a 4.3" barrel.  22Mag still has more velocity & energy outta the 4.3" barrel but the benefits of the Mag round thru a rifle for plinking & small game are hard to argue with. The Keltec is interesting with the hi-cap magazine & I think that drives the interest in it. It did for me. I can see Keltec running low production runs on these to maintain the high demand the market is seeing now.  I'm still on the fence on whether or not to get one.

Save up and get the FN Five Seven?  It's about a grand but the ammo was designed with a short barrel in mind, still holds 20 rounds in the mag.  The gun isn't cheap by any means and neither is the ammo unfortunately.

I looked at the PM30 when they first came out...but I probably wont buy one.

Instead, I think I'm going to buy a cheap beat up Ruger MkII or MkIII and do the volquartsen .17mach2 upper on it.  Nasty little round, and cheap to shoot.  The vq upper is expensive, but worth it IMO.  I did a .17mach2 conversion on a ruger 10/22, and it is by far my favorite gun to shoot.

Well  after doing a little reading on the FN 5.7   Wow ! Rounds have good speed & energy.     If I did save up to buy one the ammo is similiar in price to .45   :(  Definately nice though.  I was quoted $329 for a Keltec PMR30 locally, that's certainly reasonable although ammo isn't cheap either.  I've been eyeing the Ruger 22/45 MKIII Hunter with a 6 7/8" barrel. Cheap rounds FTW

I'll have to do some research on the .17 mach2 conversion on a ruger 10/22. I've shot my buddies .17 cal rifle. I'll have to get together with him one of these days to shoot it again,  compare it against a 10-22.

Bill's  next week on Fri night or sat. I'll check the range hours.
