Days off are dangerous.  I tend to spend money when I'm not working.  Dang, too bad I don't work for USPS, I would go to the range in uniform on my way in and make everybody nervous.

One of the guys at work has the XDm 9mm on layaway.  Comes with 3-19 round mags.  Told another guy your finger will get tired before you run out of ammo with that thing.

If you guys were buying a .22 pistol for plinkin/squirrels what would you buy?  I grew up shooting a Ruger Mark II so I was looking at them. Heres the Mark III Competition. Do I need that or would the Hunter or Target be fine?

  I don't understand the differences or purpose between the slab sided target barrel, fluted target barrel & the standard. Does it really make a difference? Yeah a longer barrel will help accuracy but the different shapes.... what gives. So what do you guys think, is this is a good choice or would you get something else?

the fluting helps kill barrel whip and it also gives more surface area to allow the barrel to cool quicker. i would go with the mk111, if it is legal in your state they make a fully integrated suppressed mk111 which is almost hollywood quiet

I think the slab side is an aesthetic thing.  I'm sure it helps with cooling but as much as I've shot my MkII I've never had the barrel get hot.  Warm yes but not bad.  I'd like a slab side myself.  It's on the to-buy list actually but this XD preempted it.

Found shop online that will thread your Ruger Mk barrel, add a matching (blued or stainless) thread protector and move your front site back for $140.  I'm going to look into that should I ever buy anything that threads onto the end.  *cough*  

Went to the range today and ran a few hundred rounds through the XD.  I like the trigger!  The sights aren't bad either.  At first I didn't think I'd like them but then once I started shooting I liked them.  Loading all 16 rounds sucks.  Started cheating and using the loader for the last two.  Did all my shooting at the 25 yard line and no, I'm not posting the target.  I did knock the middle out but it took while.  Don't judge me, Dan!    

Dirty fingers from loading those mags.  That backstrap starts digging in after a lot of shooting too, dang.



Buddy shot a .38 special.  Are they kidding?!?  That is spectacularly unimpressive.
