My wife's laptop was attacked. Spyware virus trojan. Our software (which we paid extra for)picks it up but I can't get rid of it. Without paying a big fee of course. Looking for a good virus remover. somebody recommended this one. Figured I should run it by you guys, since you all know waaaay more than me. and...before I f**k it all up. this isn't like at work where if I screw up, somebody else will pay for it, and I get paid to keep trying

Mad Dog

Malware bytes and super anti spyware.  Automatic updates through windows has the malicious software removal tool and if you know exactly what virus it is symantec usually has fixes.

Krandall

Do yourself a favor and uninstall any virus/spyware stuff you have..

Use AVG (free) for your anti-virus (completely free and awesome. been using it for about 7 years now)

you might have to try it in safe mode, and close ALL programs that are'nt needed.

Hefe

I would run a small program called "Combofix"
download here
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

run that in safe mode

this will cure about 90% of most probs

after that is done, install and run superantispyware

after that is done, I recommend Avast! antivirus
the free version is good enough

that should hook ya up

hefe is my hero.

 found the files and deleted them karma in yo' face!

oh Hefe, BTW. after talking to Nichole, she remembers when it first happened. Facebook app. She was deleting all the stupid messages you get from people and accidentally clicked "accept" whatever the gift was. She had well over 100. And got some errors. when she started it up later last night, the fun began

We ignore all those gift requests. I only click friend requests.

thanks again

Krandall ill second AVG... love it...

although i have recently moved on from Adaware and spybot... and now use malwarebytes....

i had a trojan that all but murdered my comp, adaware, spybot, hijackthis, Macafee, AVG couldnt touch it... malwarebytes took it out without even blinking... and gave me my comp back... haha...

and yes i have all of those on my computer and use all of them for different purposes... haha... (macaffe enterprise for my day to day background AV) (least overhead of all programs i have found)
