Here's whats up. Went to ride my quad this weekend after it sat for for about 3 weeks untouched. Tried to start it, got the dreaded click. So I threw a battery charger on there set to boost, let it sit a minute, fired her up and took off.

Went and messed around for about 20-30 minutes, and rode back to my parents house and shut it off. Tried firing it back up and it turned over maybe 2 or 3 times and clicked again. Should 20-30 minutes of ride time have been enough to get it charged to start again?

I drug the quad back home with me and puled the battery out and have it at interstate getting it tested now, he said it is taking a charge fine but will do a load test when it gets charged up and call me back.

My question is, if the battery test comes out fine, I am assuming I should start looking towards the stator correct? If so, then how the crap can you test the stator, and is there a way to do it without tearing it out first?

Thanks!

Edit - Found this link about changing the stator. Good deal

Per seeing/hearing what Mad Dog had to do on his..
DO NOT get the Ricky Stator. The wire loom for it was about 1" to short so he had to extend all his wires PLUS, it didn't last.

food for thought.

Well I went over to Interstate to see what they found out about my battery. He said he was getting "skewed results" from his tester. It said the cold cranking amps were great but still said replace the battery (voltage was 11.6 or something like that) and when he put a small load on there it sucked down the voltage some.

He said he was not really sure if the battery was bad or not and would need more time to test it and mess with it. Needless to say I said to hell with it and bought a new one anyways. Took it back to my apartment and threw it in. Fired right up and let it run for awhile, but it was fully charged when I put it in. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. I am still not sure if the battery is charging correctly or not.

Only time will tell I guess

nice, shouldn't take to long to tell ifyour battery isn't charging, just pay attention to your headlights after a few hour ride.

Peelz

put a multi meter on the battery while it is running. If the voltage goes up when running, it works. 99.99999% of the ime.

Aiight. I will give it a shot tonight. Problem is with it sitting at my apartment, I don't have anywhere to ride it, so the battery should still be fully charged. I will ride the piss out of it this weekend and see what happens but I will still try it tonight and see what it does
