How do I jump?

Ok this IS a really dumb question but how do i jump the raptor 700? I was landing flat a lot the past few times at the track so I tried preloading more, it was much better! But on a 4th gear run up the ramp I was in air so long I had time to watch in horror as my front end slowly began to nose dive down. This happens often in my longer jumps that need high third or 4th to completely clear.

Typically I:

1) Stand up and center my weight on the bike
2) Lay off the throttle for a second to ensure I have a small "burst" of power as I jump
3) Lower myself quickly getting the suspension to preload as I come up the ramp
4) Raise my body and "blip" the throttle ( at this point I pull back on the bars)
5) Sail across with a "WAHOOO!" as I admire earth from an eagles perspective

or for big air

2b) throttle longer to gain more speed before preloading
5b) develop a look of shear terror as im seeing the ground slowly go from under me to in front of me

What causes the front end to come down? I keep trying different things but one time my lucks gonna run out.

i know that if you blip the throttle while in mid air you will bring the front end back up. it's the gyro affect that your tires have on the quad. when they start to loose speed the front end starts to drop. so just tap the throttle mid flight and the front up will come back up.

Nose dive cure- hit throttle
Standing it straight up cure- tap rear brakes

stay on throttle til you leave the jump. or you will nose dive. Take it slow, and give it gas at base of jump. Stand up of course.

So the general idea is to ride the throttle and let go once in mid air and its all good? Im gonna try, send you pics from the hospital!

blip the throttle right before the end of the jump. this will load your suspension, and keep you nose up, which is easier to land than the opposite.

+1 To much rebound on your rear will bring your front down fast.

Stay on the throttle until all 4 wheels leave the ground! Momentum is key when jumping and if u let off at all, the front end will nose dive. Make sure the powerband is still pulling hard as u leave the jump. If not, jump in a different gear and/or change the length your approach.

Also, depending on how long you're in the air, it may be necessary to pull the clutch in once u let off the gas. This is more common on 4 strokes due to increased engine braking. Any type of braking on the rear wheels, when in the air, will cause the front end to nose dive.

make sure to take pics, in case u go out in a blaze of glory

Ok this IS a really dumb question but how do i jump the raptor 700?

Pull it between 2 dirt hills, get u a little running start and push off with your left leg or right leg if u prefer and try to land on both feet. ::)

O the sarcasm in this thread  :P

let off the gas at the face and hold in the clutch as your front tires are leaving the ground   :poke:

Your only supposed to do that if your attempting a double back flip. :moon:

Plenty of good advice in here. Like everyone else has said. Make sure you're on the throttle through out the whole ramp.

"pin it to win it!"

even throttle until ramp/jump. Blip the throttle a bit depending on angle of jump.

Im thinking maybe the issue is im usually high in gear when I jump. Power is abundant and if I blip the throttle the bike really responds in 3rd. However in 4th its such a longer more gradual gear that the *blip* doesnt really pack the punch off the lip as normal. So just keep throttling? Im gonna try "throttle throttle and more throttle" as well as "grab the clutch" and see which one pans out. I wonder if I can rent an ambulance?
