BA Performance shop quad
Code Name= HOT ROD  (if you've ever seen the movie, this belongs in that movie)

Yes, it's true, it's one big lump of crap.  This specific quad has been through hell.  This quad has been used at a local archery club for the last 17 years or so.  It is ridden hard once a month to pull a trailer load of 3 dimensional foam targets up and down the hills of the back-country.  I have personally ridden it before and can attest to it's crappy condition.  Among the problems are:

piston slap
blown rings
no brakes (at all)
blown suspension
leaky tires

These are the known issues.  I flipped it a couple years ago as well, right into a multiflora rose bush.  With it on top of me, I climbed back through the bush with an arm full of thorns.  Needless to say, this thing and I go way back.  It'll be interesting to get it in rideable shape.  It was extremely cheap and will make a good temporary ride as well as a possible ride for the girlfriend when I upgrade next year.  I found a similar quad on CL that pretty much demonstrates what we're looking at.

Mod plans...
Cut fenders
new tires
suspension of some sort
brakes fixed
headlight removed
engine rebuild
carb cleaned

We'll see where it goes from there.  If it'll fit, I'm going to try and stuff my spare GSXR600 engine into it and skip the engine rebuild part. >:D

I'll let you know if the GSXR motor doesn't fit, a 700 transplant might be in order.

Doesn't look good for the new project.  The seller upped his price thinking that he can "get $500 out of any quad that runs" so I passed on it.  Oh well, I'll find another POS for my project LOL!
