anyone think there's some background investing going on? Like... big head hancho people that have control of some of this stuff. Putting the fear into America to drive stock prices down. they dump their money in.. I bet... 6 months. They'll be singing a different tune :)

Just some more of my underground coverup thoughts.

I think that goes on with oil. Hell, buyers have HUGE supplies of it sitting around waiting for prices to go up...remember that artice I posted? I don't doubt for a second there is insider trading going on. The question is when to get in and how long before you get out?

Stocks on the move today:

HEWLETT-PACKARD (HPQ.N) UBS on Wednesday upgraded Hewlett-Packard to buy from
neutral, saying sentiment on the computer company was overly
bearish. The firm kept its below-consensus estimates on the
company and acknowledged there could be downward revisions to
consensus estimates but said "we believe this is largely
factored into the stock and believe that if HP can deliver an
in-line quarter it would act as a positive catalyst." The firm added that "we believe there is value in HP and
think the recent pullback has made shares attractive. We
believe investors with a longer-term view stand to benefit from
being long shares at current levels." Shares of HP, a Dow component, rose 3.9 percent to $28.10.

STAPLES INC (SPLS.O) The office supplies retailer rose 1.5 percent to $15.98
even after it reported adjusted fourth-quarter earnings that
missed expectations and declined to give a 2009 outlook.

AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS (AEO.N) Shares of American Eagle surged 6.5 percent to $10.19 after
it reported adjusted fourth-quarter earnings that met
expectations and gave an outlook that was roughly in line with
consensus. [ID:nN11415978]

NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR (NSM.N) The company reported a decline of 36 percent in
third-quarter sales and forecast a decline of 5 to 10 percent
in fourth-quarter sales. It said it would immediately cut 850
positions in a plan to reduce expenses. [ID:nWNAB2735] Shares of the company slid 2.3 percent to $11.43.

SIRIUS XM RADIO (SIRI.O) The satellite radio operator reported a quarterly loss that
narrowed from the prior year and sales that were better than
expected. It added 82,945 subscribers in the quarter.
[ID:nN10545815] The stock 2 percent to 15 cents.

DXP ENTERPRISES INC (DXPE.O) The electrical contracting company posted a fourth-quarter
profit that beat estimates by a cent. Shares of the company
jumped nearly 23 percent to $11.41.

LHC GROUP INC (LHCG.O) The home nursing services provider posted quarterly results
that topped market estimates, boosted by strong performances at
its segments, and raised its 2009 outlook. Shares rose 8.8
percent to $19.83.

CAPITAL TRUST INC CT.N The real-estate investment trust said it was in advanced
negotiations with creditors to restructure or settle
substantially all its debt obligations. Shares soared 43
percent to $1.29.

VAIL RESORTS (MTN.N) The resorts company reported second-quarter results which
included revenue growth of 8 percent. [ID:nWNAB2736] It also announced a company-wide wage reduction plan, with
affected employees' salaries cut by between 2.5 and 10 percent.
[ID:nWNAB2739] Shares surged 17.7 percent to $19.43.
