4:46 am.....

I'm sleepping on the couch......when I hear a loud crash. I think it's part of the thunderstorm that was moving into the area. I get up, and look outside and teh concrete is dry. I see stuff all over the road, so I shut my alarm off and wonder outside. Someone hit the brick mailbox across the street. The car was 50 yards up the street and some one was staggering around the car. I cal the police, and let them know where the accident was. I go back outside and teh car is sitting in the middle of the road, no driver. The police show up, and as they arrive another car arrives. It's the family of the driver of the car.

Turns out they were coming back to try to move the car and stage the accident. They told the police the diver wasn't here, that they went home to "get something to eat" and they were just tired. The officer said "Go get his ass right now, he's commiting a felony by leaving the scene of an accident." The driver returns and it was a woman. The person I saw walking around the car wasn't a woman. The police officer questions her and finds out it wasn't her. He goes to the house and gets the driver down the street. Turns out it was a black guy I used to play football with. He was driving his mother's car, and got scared because he has two warrants. He just left a club that had a shooting, and was speeding home drunk when he jumped the curb, drove through my neighbor's yard, took out a mailbox, and continued through two more yards before ending back on the street. Oh, and here's the kicker...the insurance had just expired on the car my dealership sold them. It was a 2008 Pontiac G6 GT.

I've been helping my neighbor picki up bricks since since 5:00 am. I'm going to bed!

  Yeah, throw a brick at him.  "Go deep!"

When I first starting reading this, I thought somebody hit his box with a bat or brick or something, not their freaking car!  My mailbox has a few battle scars from wayward bats and stuff.

People used to always get drunk and crash down the road from my house.  The road turns, they don't.  Hello pine trees.  Now there's reflective signs, arrows, crap telling you the road goes ==> that-a-way now.  Dead end street and they would be trying to get to the highway.  Had an asphalt truck overturn there, "paved" a large section of the woods, had a chick get killed bouncing off a pine and snapping a power pole.  My neighbor was laughing at me.  I told him I woke up after the power was restored when my ceiling fan turned on and the aquarium started bubbling.  I asked him what happened.  He asked if I heard the police cars, fire trucks, ambulance or crews pulling all that mess out and resetting the pole.  "Uh... no."  I guess when I sleep good, I sleep REAL good.
