Sorry to hear about the bad luck Brian.  Hopefully things will turn around this year.  Also, why are you having second thoughts about building on the land?

Were we live now, we are less than five minutes from shopping, five minutes from the airport, five minutes from everything.

I would love to have a little privacy, but then I like being close to everything. We went oout to our property two weeks ago, and the roads are needing attention. The county was supposed to have picked up on the maintenance, and they are not maintaining the roads. The roads are all paved, but they are filled with rough areas. The actual road ting the edition where our property is loacated is really good, but the 1/2 - 3/4 of a  mile to the entrance sucks. There are some really nice homes in the area of my property. There are several retired people with homes there (our neighbor across the street is a retired dentist). Someone is building a 3000-3500 square foot home diagonally across the street from us now, but the home that is sitting next to our property has a shitty looking car sitting outside not in operation (it's against the covenants to have a vehicle not in working order sitting outside and in view of other property owners). On the drive into our phase, there are some homes built in the late 90's that are not being kept up to standard in my opinion. I'm afraid if I build a $300-350,000 home, the surroundings into my phase hurt my property value. Don't get me wrong, there are some really nice homes already in the edition, but there are many that seem to be falling below the status quo (in my opinion).
