A plume of dangerous radioactivity looms three kilometers high, making it the worst catastrophe in the history of nuclear power. The Soviet news agency TASS holds off reporting the incident for almost 48 hours.


I'd love to be able to go there for a vacation to look around. They have opened up some places for tours. You can't pick anything up, you can't lay in the grass... a lot of things you cant do due to the radiation.
