Why did this happen?

Im struggling to figure out why after full exhaust, stage 2 cam, high flow intake (airbox removed), 101 octane fuel mix, power commander 3 my quad made 40hp 42 torque on the dyno. And that was after the tuning and so on. Could it be because I have an enlarged front sprocket that requires more work from the engine for a higher top speed?

Or

Is this normal to the wheels HP for a 700 raptor with these types of mods? Or somehow some way am I getting screwed by my raptor?

Id appreciate anyone that can provide some perspective. Shes fast, real fast but I think shes got more hidden somewhere.

Dyno #'s don't mean all to much... I DO think you should be higher, but... it could just be the dyno...

If it runs better and stronger than it did, and the plug looks fine.. I'm doubting your missing any hidden HP

also no need for race fuel miv will do better with lower octane like 89

Really? 89? Id like to hear more info about that if you could.

Unless you have a high compression piston, like 12:1 or 14:1... race fuel is useless.

stock raptor piston does not need high octane race fuel, waste of money. Can actually rob a little.

I think you got a lousy dyno read.  Don't see Tq numbers higher than HP on the 700 much.

Nope that's not it

Like peels said unless you go up in compression IE Piston or head work you are wasting your money with race fuel.

also if you didn't do a before & after there is no real way to know how much you gained, a dyno generally is used  to see how much you increase, as every dyno is different, it will be hard to compare it to some one with similar mods that used a diff dyno, or even the same dyno on a different day.

The reason im looking to other owners for the Dyno comparison is because TN/KY was hit with a big ice storm that knocked out power to the shop so they couldnt run the Dyno for a few days. They ran base, then modded, then after it was tuned. But the comp threw the data (so they say) from the stock runs when the lights went out. Piston is going in, just not for a month. But I appreciate the insight. Thank you for all the responses. Im guessing I didnt get my moneys worth. Anyone recommend a good tuning shop TN/KY area? Im in Clarksville, TN.

Bert

If your air/fuel ratio looks good then they did there job tuning it. Can't ask for much more unless they did the build up for you.
I got mine dynoed in Iowa for $159, I was there for a little over 1.5 hours. I'm more than happy with the tune.

I had 40 HP as well with a 3 mod & KDS +2 TB. Just numbers. The throttle response and power is there so I forgot about the low numbers.  I think the taller gearing worked in your favor. If they tune from 25 mph to redline then the taller gearing is giving you a small amount of extra time  to let them tune the A/F. I tuned with 13/38 gearing but next time will go with 15/36.  On the dyno the 13/38 ran 96 mph

Have you checked with Kenneth from KB Motorsports? He's a sponsor and may be able to help you find a dyno

Im putting that new ratio I did (15/38) to the test tomarrow at a place called Honda Hills. Still have some bugs to work out suspension wise but it will give me a good idea about power delivery and the overall difference in the quad as a whole. I just thought the numbers were a little too low after all that work. But if someone else has the same numbers then I feel more confident! Thank you

Alkire193

Ok I took the quad to the track last weekend. First impression of the tuning was nice. Even leaned forward and sitting forward in the seat the front wheels came up a little on me a few times, so the power is there.  Even coming around the same old turns id leave them behind and bound over tabletops and double doubles. Not sure why I got the low numbers but the change is there, no one can keep up with this quad that I know personally. But id like to find another dyno near Clarksville, TN that can give me some numbers I can brag about. I dont want the next time I run on a Dyno (after I get high compression piston) to be a 25 hp difference.

Flynbyu

When you get the high compression piston, you should run the higher octane fuel then.

You'll see a little more power for sure then.

Has anyone done this install personally? Like, not taking it to a shop. It seems like its pretty straightforward
