Two Qs:

  • Is there any reason I should stay away from the Maxxis Razr 2 tire?
  • Will I have to buy new wheels or do the tires fit the stock ones?

The stock rears on my '06 SEs have served me well but are worn and will need to be replaced soon. Based on threads on this site and Modded Raptor it seems the debate comes down to either ITP's GNCCs or Maxxis Razr. I like the look of the Razr  better and the Razr 2 looks to be an improved version of the original.

Warren

i have razr 2's front and back and i love them. they hold up great to all the on road driving i do. and they hook up great off road as well. they will fit stock rims. the only thing i had trouble with was when i ordered them from rocky mountian they were different hieghts. the side wall said they were the same sizes but one tire was 1/2" taller then the other. i just sent them back and they sent me a new pair. other then that i would deffently recommend these tires to anyone.

They are good tires and hook up great, a little harder to slide with than what your used to, but the traction is unmatched. You dont have to change your rim.

Warren is right, when i ordered mine, they where the standard 20x11x9 but resembled 21's or 22's. They measure alot taller than the stock tires do with the same size.

So what size fits the stock rims?!?  ???  I am a little confused!!

Front:
Rear:

Hefe

just look at your old tires and order the same size (it is on the side)

now.. my $.02

those tires SUCK!

my buddy has them and he is constantly beating me in drag races cause he hooks up like crazy

then he roosts a bunch of crap in my face
big chunks... man it hurts..

seriously...
it is a bad ass tire... get it!

Bert

Stock rims are stamped with the size

Front is 10 x 5.5
10 is the rim height & 5.5 is the width

Rear is 9.0 x 8.5
9 is the rim height & 8.5 is the width

21 x 7 x 10 - Stock front tire
21 - tire height
7  - tire width
10 - rim height

20 x 10 x 9 - Stock rear tire
20 - tire height
10 - tire width
9  - rim height

And if you do buy some razr2's rears I would MUCH rather buy GBC x-rex. They are pretty much the same tire, but cheaper and lighter.

I don't have any expierence with the GBC tires, but for the price of the R2's, I'd go with HS GNCC's before the maxxis route.

I've never ridden Razr 2's.

They were in my contending list of tires to buy when I bought last summer... I went the XRC route from Hole Shot. A softer tire. But more hook up, better designed lugs, and lighter tire.

Just some things to look @.

Whatever you end up with, will be loads better than stock

I love mine, the worked great out in cali and so far they have preformed really well here.  I don't miss my holeshots at all, and so far I've yet been able to FEEL the weight difference.  I'm shocked when people say they can feel if a tire is heaver....at 2lb a tire.

You might consider looking at Kendas. Great tire at a very fair price.Just another option.
