I hear cheng shin, C-826, are good tires to be studded. Is there better ones? And what size & type of studs are the best for the C-826. Thanks for the help.

Cheng Shins are to be considered one of the best tires to be studded when Ice Racing / tooling around. I would look into a decent set of those or a set of turf tamers (a cheaper version of them)

As far as studs go. / screws go...

Any idea of how long of stud you can put in with out going to far into the lug? Or do you want to go threw and put a plastic nut on the back side? I would be afraid of them losing air presure.

I saw someones post that they went all the way threw and put a plastic nut on the back/inside the tire. I'm sure that keeps them from pulling out. would that be the best way to install them for longevity.  THANKS

With the c826 tires we always used 1/2 long screws, some would go all the way through but most wouldn't.  Problem is that anything shorter (3/8") is too short and will pretty much rip right out of the tire.

I have had Cheng Shin/ If there is any snow, they pack up.

I have Kenda Knarly's in the rear and Kenda Klaw in the front.

I am on my second set of this combo.

1" studs in the rear. They go all the way through. The tires do not leak.

1/2" in the front

Kold Kutter ice screws work the best, in my opinion

Thanks for the info guys. I will be using them in the snow and for ice covered trails and out on the lake. I will check out the kinda's .   Some more opinions would be very helpful in making a edjucated decision. Thanks to everyone.

A good tip I read on here was... Inflate the tire up to around 30lbs when. And put the screws in then then deflate to the recommended settings. you'll have a better seal.

also a little bit of that green slime stuff couldnt hurt on the inside of the tire if you do have a leak... especially if your not racing and weight isnt an issue...

Krandall wouldnt sheet metal screws work just as well as those studs you posted?

My cousin used sheet metal screws on his once. Every one of them ripped out.
the screws vs actual studs are different material and tthe real studs have a better head design meant for ice.
