Raptorkid, this is for you.

The Viper is in danger.

The product planners at Dodge have held back on officially announcing the vehicle's cancellation. Dodge has halted production of the Viper, and publicly tried to sell the design rights to other automakers and even parts suppliers that don't build whole cars. Essentially, they're trying very hard to get rid of this car without taking the blame for killing it outright. The writing is on the wall for the legendary Viper.

After Dodge kills it, values will plummet!

It is still a better car than a vette.  I bet it goes up for a bit, but followed by a crash. Then be worth something years down the road.

Watch and see, the values will hit rock bottom.

It's still an awesome ride, but it will seriously hurt anyone that owes money on one!

it's too bad for sure. But with the economy, and CHrysler the way it is, I don't really see a way around it. :(

So, are you covered in ice or what?

you think values would plumit? Aren't they a fairly limited production car? I'm coming not knowing a thing about them... But... look @ mid-early 70's cuda's...

I can't see vipers losing value if they are a limited prod car and then being cut completely. I would think that'd make them all the rarer? ???

It's 25F, and the streets are just wet now. Lots of ice on the trees, and a little snow, but it's gone for the most part. 50 miles north, it looks like a war zone. Trees and utility poles are snapped in half. They are ecpecting power outages for weeks.

We got lucky!

i kinda see it this way too, but then like the economy, value will run out of substance, and tank. But show up years from now at auctions at a premium.

Sounds like you did get lucky. Brian.

They will drop in quite a bit in value. You'll see current year models drop $15-20K in book value if they annouce the model is going away. Dealer inventories are still plentiful on 2008-09 models. All dealers floored with Chrysler are scurrying to get rid of 2008 models. Chrysler's new floor plan rules state you must pay a percentage of invoice amount of the vehicle off each month until it's paid off. No more riding it out by paying intrest only on old models. Average Viper invoice: $83000. Having a big ticket item like that on your floor plan eats away at the bottom line fast.

Look what happened to the Chrysler/Plymouth Prowler and the Chevrolet SSR. Limited production rides you can buy cheap now. The low production numbers help Viper, but if you break something out of warranty, it will get expensive to fix.

The nice thing is most people that own Vipers don't drive them daily. Most of the cars out there have really good miles, and that helps value.

There is a guy here with almost the same setup, just had it painted red.  Same wheels. Looks killer, but the big block noise it what sells it.
