It was the song where he had the epiphany "oh I can play, this is easy" -once you learn palm-muting the e-string, every Metallica song becomes bread and butter. This was it for him. Drove my wife nuts, she won't listen to the song anymore. Still, when ever he picks up a guitar, first thing out is this song played at full volume.  He still doesn't play it quite right, but that's OK, as long as it sounds good to you, who cares.
