I can't imagine they'd be a cheap car for insurance. I'm not sure what the goin price is though for a low miled one.

but why would you buy a project car for a first car......
how bad are e36 m3s on insurance?

Expensive, even when your parents pay for it.

:lol:

Those cars would eat you alive if you're going to be paying for them. I would be willing to bet it's over $400 per month for insurance on either of those cars for you.

i know the prices for the car i just dont know the insurance.
i realized taht any car is not going to be cheap on insurance, so im just looking at some options. an ls1 camaro or trans am would be awsome but i dought i could get enough money for the trans am ( formula maybe) and i will be raped with insurance with the camaro. then comes the japs. the wrx sti is out of the question, insurance is nuts for those but the evo's are lower in price. but i proboly wont get enough money to but one. the srt4 neons are nice. and then the e36 m3s are awsome. there not too much and i dont think insurance will be as bad as the other cars i listed

lol yes i will be paying for it. 2 grand a year, thats not to bad. despite it being 1/5th of the actuall m3 cost. and i will proboly get cheaper insurance due to me only being home for about 5 months out of the year

When I was 16, Insurance for me on a Nissan truck was $638 every six months, and that was 19 years ago.

I'll never forget that.

My insurance for two vehicles now (Tahoe, Corvette) is $580.

$2000 a year is highway robbery. You're better off getting something you can beat around in until you're 21 and carry liability on. If you have a claim within those five years, your insurance will double, and your insurance company will cancel you.

Take that $2000 a year you would pay in insurance and save it for a nice ride when you're a little older.

i think the e36 might be a good route. i will look more into it. but i was reading up and alot of guys are paying 2k a year for wrx's and sti;s , so i dont think the m3 will be that much. but i will see. also one of my friends is getting an m3 so ill ask him how much the insurance is.

I'd love an STi.. I just can't justify the $450+ a month payment and then a $250/month premium. ::)

RK, do yourself a favor and get something a bit cheaper for your first car.  You are going to be hard on your first car, its just part of the learning process.  And be smart and don't get something too fast, learning on a sports car is a dumb ass move.....trust me, I know.
