"Focus on the Family"  yeah we help families!  But only if the believe what we do, and are willing to subjigate your kids to our faith.  Plus they don't see me and my son alone as a "Family", so no help.

F@CK them

Most of them would understand your situation.

I'm sure there are good people in that program E.  I just haven't met ANY OF THEM.

They do some good, but I'm no fan.

And what good is that Hannity, I mean Erich.

You have your views, I have mine.....we'll leave it at that.

meow

I've had a good day.  I see no reason to go over it with you, we have two different views.  I would have more affect talking to a wall and so would you.

So you're not gonna pray for me anymore?  That's just mean.

I pray for you everyday, 6:10am on the button.  I will never change that, you mean too much to me to quit doing that.

excellent post. This drives me pretty nuts about any and all "missionary" work. I still enjoy the "position" though

;)

I've done my share of missionary work.  Care to hate?   Last one was working in the orphanages in TJ.

I used to deliver food to the home bound for the Salvation Army during the holidays.  When the Mooch gets a little older were gonna resume doing it.  We were in some pretty rough neghborhoods so we stopped.

I have zero issue with missionary groups.  Mormon's are some of the friendliest, kindest people I've ever met.  But forcing submission to ones faith inorder recieve support in times of need (IE Right after my divorce), like FontheF did???  that's not "GERD's work" IMHO.

No hating from me, just sharing a thought. Most experiences I have had with missionaries, is religious propaganda hidden in good will. Not personal hate towards all of them. Sorry E

I have had spiritual clashes with Mormons, J.W.'s and good ole' fashioned redneck racist Baptists. Maybe they just weren't the right people for the job. All of them ended up basically calling me stupid or uninformed for not believing in their respective stories. So I "informed" them to leave. Oh don't forget the scientologists who haven't even read the damned book yet. Just in it because they think it is cool.

Oh, and I am not talking about people who give their life to help others either. They are truly great people who are doing what they believe to be GERD's work...and actually helping other people. But... helping people whilst subjecting them to Theology is something out of the Third Reich handbook.

I will also say, I have met folks from most faiths and had zero trouble with most of them. It is not the religion that bothers me per se. It is the fact that most of them do not allow for my views. I try my damndest to allow for theirs.

I had a neighbor, very strange fellow. WHo I think was acting stupid to get help. Missionaries would get him groceries and daily needs to help him get by. He wasn't shy about it.  He acted stranger when they were around. Basically in exchange for his soul, he received care. He got the better end of the deal, for he has no soul.

I've done quite a few missionaries. Haven't since I moved for work. But I guessing it's just dependant on who is doing the mission work, I know when we did. We never pushed our beliefes. We hoped that by doing the good works we'd help epople realize not everyone in the world is bad.. We held ministry services also. if people from the community wanted to join they were more than welcome. But not required of them to, to receive services done by our youth group.

Might want to change that one to "missions"  ;) Missionary is the person who facilitates the mission

J/k I have no trouble with your sort of mission work. For the greater good of humanity. Personally, I have witnessed about 75/25 nazi type missionaries.
