I don't understand why the GOP fought so hard on this....Sure there are pros and cons, but the majority are positive measures for our country and for all of us. I'm glad it finally passed. It's a step in the right direction. Now if we just spend wisely, and get the best bid for jobs to put people to work!

I dislike them removing the $15,000 tax credit for home buyers. Not cool. Being able to write off the sales tax on an auto is good too. That's a huge chunk of change in some states like my own.

The fought it due to all the pork in it.  I started reading the cliff notes last night but got bored out of my mind.  Lot of useless crap in that bill and spending money in the wrong areas.

They pulled the part about the whistle blower folks as well. Granting special treatment, kickbacks for people who rat on their company mishandling bailout money.  Doesn't surprise me about Republican party.

We need whistle blowers. Just like the people who busted the bankers for STILL paying bonuses with our money!

Bastards.

They were drilling the top bank executitves yesterday. They showed clips from the hearing.. Some people telling them how it is... And that they should be using the money to help the banks not themselves... Basically, we don't care what they do with THEIR money, but when it's ours(taxpayers) its a whole new ball game.

we need them, just can't be paying out millions.

There is a lot of pork in that bill, but I still say things will get better for the two reasons I've stated before.

I read all 670 odd pages of that monster.  I think the issue is that they're is so much in this bill, that it's hard to swallow in one huge bite.  I like allot of the ideas in it, but I agree that not ALL of it needed to be in this rescue package.  It's not like they couldn't take a part out that was causing a major issue and resubmit it as it's own bill later.

Seems like a forcefeed to me.  Take it all, or be the bad guys to the entire country.

I haven't read it all, but what I have read I liked. Sure, I'm sure there are some things that are overstated, but as long as the money goes to economic development, or to invest in useful programs for tax paying citizens, I support it.

IMO, the education part should be it's own bill.

Krandall

+1

I understand education is important.. But that is not going to "stimulate" the economy.
