Juan Zamora pumped $26 of gas into his 1994 Chevy Camaro at his regular Conoco just like any other normal day. The only problem is his Paypal debit card recorded a transaction of $81,400,836,908.

An as-yet-unidentified system glitch resulted in the $81 billion charge which was only discovered after Zamora was informed his credit car had been maxed out, a couple billion times over. After arguing with Paypal's broken-English service division in India, Zamora was eventually able to convince the creditors he hadn't filled his Camaro up more than 3.1 billion times (or alternately gas hadn't gone to $5,920,060,866 a gallon) the charge was removed. Juan's moral of the story: "Pay cash."

This year's Indy Pace car is.....

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro!

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Feb. 26 it has selected the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro to pace the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 24, 2009.
The Camaro Pace Car was unveiled during a ceremony at the IMS Hall of Fame Museum with IMS President and Chief Operating Officer Joie Chitwood, and Indianapolis 500 winners Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser Jr. and Eddie Cheever Jr.

"The Chevrolet Camaro first paced the Indianapolis 500 in 1967 with one of the most loved Pace Cars of all times, followed by the 1969 Indy 500 Camaro Pace Car with the hugger orange paint scheme," Chitwood said. "Just 40 years after that car made its mark as a Pace Car favorite, we're pleased to have Camaro return to the streets and to the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to start our Centennial Era."

2009 marks the fifth time the Chevrolet Camaro has been selected to pace the Indianapolis 500 (1967, 1969, 1982, 1993, 2009). It will be the 44th time a General Motors vehicle has paced "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," with 20 by a Chevrolet.

Powered by the 6.2-liter LS3 all-aluminum Chevy V-8, the all-new 2010 Camaro produces 426 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 420 lb-ft of torque at 4,600 rpm. It features a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and 3.45 axle ratio.

No drivetrain or suspension modifications are required to prepare the Camaro for its Pace Car duties. The only modifications to the vehicle include a fully integrated strobe system, including a GM-designed custom light bar utilizing Whelen 500 series linear strobes.

The car carries a bold paint scheme for the Indianapolis 500, created by GM Design. More information on the production version of the all-new 2010 Camaro can be found at chevy.com/camaro.

The 2009 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car driver will be announced at a later date.

I got to see the Camaro in person for the first time at the Chicago auto show, and I was rather unimpressed.  I really expected more.  For the most part it was boring to me.

I check Jalopnik every other day since you sent me the Stingray concpet Randy. It's a cool site!

The Camaro really needs to be a big hit for GM. Especially after all the hype.

I've yet to see one up close, but I know we have five Camaro SS models ordered, and they are all sold at $5,000 over sticker. I can't wait to see one.

Great....another generation of mullet toteing rednecks driving the "Official Pacecar" Camaro.

All we need now is a Def Leppard Come back tour, and no Jr highschool parking lot will be safe.

I sat in the SS, it just didn't do anything for me.  A real let down, I had high hopes.

I've drove the Challenger R/T, and the Challenger SRT. In comparison to my ride's 436 hp LS3, I was not impressed. Even the SRT with the 6.1L Hemi. I guess it's because the car is so much heavier. I'm looking forward to seeing the Camaro up close, and seeing how the LS3 propels the heavier Camaro. Especially the 300hp V6 version.

I love the seats in the Challenger though. I have rode in a customer's Challenger that had a cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and it made a huge difference.

My disappointment in the new camaro is small compared to my HUGE disappointment in the new 2010 Mustang, I've always loved the looks of the new body style but for the life of me I can't understand why they would stay with a 315hp V8 and not something bigger/more hp to compete with the new camaro.

Agreed!

They will still get more market share, since they build 135-140,000 of them and flood the market with them. That's always been my complaint with the Mustang. It's an iconic car, a piece of American history, and to build that many of them just kills it for me.

The kid with the V6 Mustang has virtually the same car as the guy with the GT Mustang. It's hard to distingush the two cars apart.

I'd rather see them go back to the 5.0 than the weak ass 4.6L that sits in them now. Even the Supercharged Mustangs fall short in performance when comparing them to the closest competition, the Z06. No traction with the Supercharged 'Stangs. The just spin on takeoff.

Why do they need to compete w/ the camaro? I think they (ford) grabbed a niche part of the market and chevy's just trying to cash in themselves... The average person isn't looking for 400+ HP.. Affordable, looks, and power are obviously key. They could always opt for the GT500 which boasts a friendly 500HP

The next thing up is the 500+ hp GT 500, and good luck finding one of those for sticker.  They really need something in the middle.

The Mustang and Camaro have always competed against each other. The Camaro stepped onto the scene in 1967 (The Firebird in 1969)to capture market share as a muscle car. Ford has offered the cheaper alternative, and has always outsold GM in that aspect.

Ford has offered less car for much less, and it has sold. The name sells the car. 85% of the people that buy it don't buy it for it's performance.

The GT500 is a cool ride, but for the money you have to spend for the car, it doesn't perform like a 500 hp car should.
