that's because we HAVE stuff to lose though if we try going to Cuba.. They have nothing to lose trying to come here ;)

Exactly, why would I want to experience the "nothing" are escaping?

I just don't share alot of people's desire to experience alternative cultures. No offense, just not interested. Especially if it is filthy like Cuba. Definitely no Asian countries. Overpopulation is not what I consider a relaxing vacation. Just a personal opinion, guys. Hats off to those that enjoy the bizarre cultures. I am not one of them.

Visiting and expeirencing other cultures is the key to understanding and peaceful co-existance......something this world could use allot more of IMO.  And since I love history, there's always something to learn for me

I do agree, but not when said culture is running people out of their country.

I couldn't agree more. Before I choose a destination to visit each year, I read about the history of the area. I've learned alot about diffrent cultures, and it blows me away how much history is at each place I've visited.

Cuba is a mystery to me, especially since I'm told I can't go there.

What gets me...We went to war over communist in Vietnam, and we have recognized they are a communist government, and we have established diplomatic relations with them. Why not Cuba?

I agree Aaron. Someday...I just won't be knocking down their door to get in for awhile.

Oh, and Brian. We talk to Vietnam, because they have cheap commodities to sell us. Cubans only give us cigars and coffee.

Yes, Cuba is communist, but it's been more of the fact that has been a dictatorship under the same douche bag for 50 years IMO

Flynbyu

It was a dictatorship under the previous douchebag that the US supported too.

No charges in north Houston freeway gunshot exchange

No charges have been filed so far in a fatal shooting earlier this week on Interstate 45.

Houston police said a man killed one man and wounded two others after they fired at him while driving in the 9400 block of North Freeway about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers were called to a gas station in the 7400 block of North Shepherd because three males had been shot. Investigators determined that the men had been shot at the freeway and drove to the Shell station.

According to police, they were driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix when they fired gunshots at the driver of a truck. Then they exited the freeway at West Gulf Bank.

The truck driver stopped on the West Gulf Bank overpass and got a rifle from his back seat for protection, police said. As he looked over the side of the freeway to see the license plate of the Pontiac, he saw the car's driver's side window open and feared the suspects would shoot at him again.

He fired several shots at the Pontiac, hitting the passenger who was sitting in the front seat and another man who was in the back seat.

The front-seat passenger, 17, was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

The Ponitac's driver, who was cut in the face by flying glass and shrapnel, and rear seat passenger were treated at the hospital. Their conditions are not immediately known.

A 19-year-old man who was passenger in the car ran away, but was later found and questioned.

CIA bars contractors from doing interrogations

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- CIA Director Leon Panetta has carried through on his pledge to prohibit independent contractors from conducting interrogations of terror suspects.
In a message to agency employees on Thursday, Panetta said he had notified the congressional oversight committees about the current CIA policy regarding interrogations.

Besides discontinuing the use of contractors, the director outlined in the message other steps taken in response to executive orders issued by President Obama in January.

The harsh interrogation techniques authorized by the Bush administration will no longer be used. Panetta said questioning of suspected terrorists will follow the approaches authorized in the Army Field Manual.

The director said the agency will "not tolerate, and will continue to promptly report, any inappropriate behavior or allegations of abuse."

He said that included suspects held by Americans or those who might have been transferred to other countries.

The secret prisons used to detain terror suspects have been closed, Panetta said.
anetta said no individuals have been detained since he became director nearly two months ago. However, he said the "CIA retains the authority to detain individuals on a short-term basis."

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein issued a statement in support of Panetta's actions, in particular the decision to drop contractors.

"I am very pleased that Mr. Panetta has announced that contractors will no longer conduct interrogations," said Feinstein, D-California and House speaker, who had previously sponsored legislation to end the process.

Police: Man Stabbed Over Flatulence Problem
Hotel Mate Upset Over Gas Stabs Man

POSTED: Wednesday, April 8, 2009
UPDATED: 9:12 am EDT April 9, 2009
WACO, Texas -- A man was stabbed after causing a stink -- literally -- in a motel room while eating with a friend, police said.

Five men from the Houston area were sharing a Waco motel room Tuesday night, and two were inside the room eating when one had a flatulence problem, Waco police Officer Steve Anderson said. One man was so upset about the gas that he threw a large knife at him, cutting his leg, and then stabbed him in the chest, Anderson said.

The 35-year-old man was transported to a Waco hospital, where he was treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, Anderson said.

Jose Braule Ramirez, 33, of Houston, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said. He was arraigned Wednesday and was being held in the McLennan County Jail on $15,000 bond and placed on an immigration hold, according to jail records. He cannot be released, even if he posts bond, until authorities verify he is in the country legally.

A jail spokeswoman who declined to give her name said she was not allowed to release information on whether Ramirez had an attorney.

CNN) -- David Lance Arneson, who helped trigger the global phenomenon of role-playing games as co-inventor of "Dungeons & Dragons," has died at the age of 61.

A statement on the game's official Web site, wizards.com, said Arneson died Tuesday evening "after waging one final battle against cancer."

Arneson "developed many of the fundamental ideas of role playing: that each player controls just one hero, that heroes gain power through adventures, and that personality is as important as combat prowess," the statement said.

The game's co-creator, Gary Gygax, died last year.

In 1974, Arneson and Gygax created "Dungeons & Dragons," which allowed players to assume roles in a magical world. They could be fighters or wizards, elves or dwarfs.

"As characters journey through various lands, they search for hidden treasures while battling menacing monsters with their own brains and brawn," a description on wizards.com says.

Some games would last days or weeks -- or even longer. "Game campaigns are as limitless as the player's imaginations," wizards.com says.

What began as a hand-assembled print run of 1,000 games quickly sold out. Young people all over the world started buying up the game. By 1982, sales broke the $20 million mark.

Arneson filed a series of lawsuits against Gygax insisting he was not being given credit or proper royalties for his work creating the game. The suits were settled.

"Dungeons and Dragons" spawned video games, novels, a cartoon, and a movie. The franchise saw a surge this decade after "The Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter" movies took off.
