I just wanted to post a couple points that I think people should focus on now that Barack Obama will be our next president. First, he is the president of the greatest country in the world in my opinion and he deserves our up most respect. He is my president and I stand behind him fully. I hold that position very high and I guess that is why you would never find me trashing George Bush. These are all great men and they deserve our respect. Second, our country has come a long way and has elected our first black president. Times have changed and we need to welcome them. In closing I would like to remind you to do whatever you can to understand politics. It is a very complicated subject and you can't trust everything you hear. Look into the laws being passed, and try to get an understanding there first. Once you have that you can look to see how each person is voting on those laws. That way you can form your opinion of the issues that are important to YOU and not what someone else is telling you. Remember that the media can turn on any president and have a huge control on what we hear. Do your best to look past that to the heart of the issue. Yes most of the mainstream media tends to be more liberal but they can turn on anyone that doesn't play their game, even President Obama. If that were to happen try not to jump on the bandwagon of trashing him and try to understand why he is making the decisions he is. Remember politics is a game, they will do one thing and blame someone else for it. One guy always ends up taking the heat and in most examples it's not the true person to blame. I'm sure their will be a fair share of trash going around about President Obama but remember, he is OUR president and we should ALL be proud of him. A president can only be as strong as the people behind him. Let's do our best to be his rock.

Can we all hold hands now?

I really feel good about this one in light of our past few years.

To clarify my comment on the banning.  If anyone were to trash is race (example: calling him a "ni**er president) would be grounds for a ban.  Not just the usual complaining about the president.  But I did ask that we should try to respect the position more and do our homework before complaining.

I believe the nation deserves change also, but is he the one that is going to bring it in a good way? We will see I'm praying on that one

Not that it matters to me, but Obama is 50% caucasian (His mother was from Kansas) and 50% Kenyan (His dad was a native of Kenya).

My views may lean to conservative but non the less being a patriot is far more important and I feel the President deserves all my respect.

I voted for John mc Cain. But now that we have elected Barack Obama he is our President elect and I shall support him 100%. I may not agree with him all of the time but I will give him the respect that he should have as the leader of our country. If the the folks that have hearts full of hate cannot adapt then they soon shall become dinosaurs. Constructive criticism is part of our democracy but hate and racisim while maybe a personal choice it should not be tolerated on a forum such as this.
