Honestly I wouldnt mess with a lower gear, you'll just spin like crazy.  I say put on some 22" 4-snows and let her eat.  Also soften the rear suspension up some too

maybe run stock 14 and launch hard in 2nd?

I'd run the 15t.. 150 is nothing. You'll see maybe through 3rd gear. Might as well stretch it out a bit and let the raptors torque pull you through

For the short distance i would either run the 14t or go to the 13t and launch hard in 2nd gear. You gotta realise these things dont rev near as quick as the 450's do. when i run the 300' drag i use the 14t cause it dont take as long to wind out. Iam however going to try a 13t. for the 1/4 mile i use the 15t. another thing that helps alot is a set of drag struts, i bought mine from powder coater ( he makes these for a good price). i launched on pavement hard in 2nd gear and no lift unless you sit way back on the seat . cheaper than extended swinger. heres my video. with struts on. also note how you can hear my clutch slipping :(

IMO you're are absolutely correct about not reving with a 450   However, you have way more tq, if you run a higher gear/taller tire it allows you to apply it while maintaing traction to keep with them on the jump.

I'll have to do some tests when my bro gets a raptor. And test the actual time differences between a 13t @ 150' / 300' and a 15t @ 150' / 300'

Would be interesting to see.. IMO I would think stretching out the gears and making less shifting would be better..
Maybe one of these slow poke TRF guys would chime in.

I agree with the 13t, i just realised your racing in grass. In my opinion if your running a 15t and 22" tires your going to have your ass handed to ya  tall tires gear it even higher and with a 15t its way to high for such a short distance. Try them both though just to find out.I would just want to get in my power range quicker for such a short run. also a 14t front with 22" rear tires is equal to running a 15t front and 20" tires. As far as strapping it down  quick cheap way to solve wheelie problems, here at the dirt drags tons of guys do it and it works.JMO
