Ok so a raptor 700 makes 686 CC and somewhere in the 40hp range.

A YFZ 450 is about 450 CC(depending on year) making almost same HP (at least i think it does)

What exactly is a CC.
I Know what HP is for the most part.

And also why does say a R6 motor which is "600cc" make so much more HP than our Raptor engine?

I always wondered these things

a CC is a Cubic Centimeter, much like cars are rated in CI, Cubic Inches.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

A. YFZ runs around 12-1 compression stock compared to 9.2-1 of the raptor.

B. An R6 is a four cylinder I believe.  Multiple pistons allow for much higher RPMS.  The create more top end HP, but don't make low end torq like the raptor.

i see it all makes sense now! so CC is just the size pretty much.

YFZ has a smaller engine with higher compression making it rev higher? So more on the top end right? where as we have more low end but less compression in a bigger engine.

Will we gain more hp by JUST putting a higher compression Piston?

Yes

YFZ rev slightly higher, but they build RPMs faster

Slightly higher???lolololol  yfz will sing clear to 14,000. A well modded raptor will make it to about 8500.

i was stating for stock applications.  And my buddies three mod KFX450 only hits 10500

Kinda......The reason the street bikes rev to the moon is the short stroke! Their storke is CONSIDERABALLY less than other motors out there. Less stroke equates to shorter distance/time the piston has to travel to complete a full RPM.

Thats why the old timers always say that a storker builds (think small block chevy) rev alot slower than a std stroke motor.

Funny story, I just got my 03 ninja 636 and my step dad has a Triumph Rocket III. Its a three cylinder, 2300CC street bike. His one cylinder has more displacement than my WHOLE engine!!! I am a 4 cylinder at 636cc's.

But yet I will kick his ass in a race because my motor is more high strung (for lack of a better word) than his cruiser.

rev limiter is 10,500-11,000 i beleive.  but schwing on the revving part

completely off topic here but you guys should go look at the red line of a nitro powered R/C car engine. is right around 35,000 RPM.  ::) ::) ::)
