Patch? no i have a Jensen DVD player in it. and it comes equipped to run a IPOD. but i have a MP3 so i got to run a FM transmitter

You can just plug MP3 in like headphones. That is how I do it in the garage on my old surround sound receiver. Also, does DVD have RCA inputs. If so, you can buy the headphone jack to RCA input wires at radio shack for like 3bucks.
That is how we have it in the minivan. Plugs right into the dvd player, just the kids can't watch any movies while we listen to it. (they'll live)
