The prices in the UK are nuts, but your public transit is WAY better than here in the States.

??? what you mean you would prefer to be hearded into a box like a cow and have people tread on your toes after having to wait for 30mins for a bus that is then driven by a guy who can just about speak english and thinks that if he steps on the brakes hard enough that it helps to get people there safely  ???

have you heard that song "drinkin' and drivin' not sure the band... the business, maybe?

"8 oclock, back to the bar,  SOD the walk, I'll drive my car"

I think it is an English band, they use the word "sod" instead of f**k.

When I was in London 12 years ago, I bought a pass for the Tube and went everywhere. A cab then was outrageous, and I couldn't think of renting a car there even then. I took the bus a few times, did a bit of walking and got around really well in the city. If I lived there, sure I'd have to motor everywhere.

We have a customer here at work that is originally from the UK. Her sister and her husband come to our store to visit us when they are in town (they are car buffs). He owns a right hand drive Chrysler 300 diesel, and told me how much they are taxed per year just to have registration. It was around $700 USD per year if I remember correctly. Plus, his wife's ride is a small compact, and that car is around $350 USD per year to register.

Crazy.
