QuoteI am not worried about riding areas, as long as they are generating revenue, they will be ok.....for awhile...until the economy gets better, then they have nothing better to worry about. And will go after them again, regardless of who is in office.

I wish this was true, but their voting proves otherwise.  Same with gun ownership.

voting records are from before this economy collapse. Rules have changed.

It is waaaaaayyyy too easy to buy a gun period. I enjoy shooting alot, but I was shocked when my wife was allowed to walk right in to the sporting goods store and buy me a rifle for my birthday. Needs to be regulated.

+1 to colorado for post of the day

Why? Is your wife a criminal? It isn't really all that easy for everyone. I have a concealed permit that is honored in 30+ states, yet I have to wait 5 days to purchase a pistol/revolver. I'm not a criminal, nor is anybody in my family. My name is not common and its an old Irish name, so what gives?

maybe....  no . It just seemed weird to me....she was unaware of the laws. Handguns are a different story, though. Maybe laws are more lax here in Iowa. i dont know?  ??? I know here, to be licensed to carry one,, you have to come up with an excuse as to why you need a handgun/concealed weapon. Then have it reviewed by Sheriff's dept. But you can buy one with little to no hoops to jump through.

In Oklahoma, you have to take a handgun course, pass an OSBI background check, pass an FBI background check, get photo'd, fingerprinted, approved by county Sherrif's office, pay a couple of dollars (can't remember how much) and pray that you literally didn't forget to dot an "i" or you have to start all over again. It takes about 3 months to get approved.
All in all I like the gun laws we have, the problem is that they need to be enforced to work. Hell the last time a democrat got into office I lost my ar15's and high capacity magazines and why? Because he thought that would make the criminals straighten up their act? Now Obama wants to do away with my guns all togather? What the hell for? I love my family and feel I should have the right to protect them via firearms. I also like everything I busted my ass for all these years and feel that if my belongings are jeopardized that I have the right to keep them via firearm. I like to feed my family and feel that it is my right as an American to hunt for food via firearm. I love my Country and feel it is my right and duty to defend it in case of invasion, via firearms. Guns dont just go off at random and kill people, it takes a criminal mind to kill somebody, rather it be by a gun, ink pen, rope, poison, or what have you.

$250,000 tax line, wtf. Socialism, one step away from Communism. Its not my damn problem that some person makes less of income then I do, why the hell should I cough up some of my money to help his lazy ass out? Lets face it, we all started out as Democrats. It doesnt work in the real world, most of us had to grow up and take care of ourselves and quit relying on others.

I cant believe that this rockstar Obama is so far into his own hype that everyone is fallin for it. You have got to be kidding me. I blame the media and ignorance for this. Its hard for me to even fathon that my ATV brothers and sisters are even considering voting for somebody that wants to "conserve our land". Thats crazy talk. Make what you want of this, http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/EnvironmentFactSheet.pdf

I really can't believe you guys use the word socialism so much.

McCain is exlpoiting the fact Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich to lower the middle class taxes. I can't speak for all of you, but I do not make $250K per year, and neither does my wife. We do not make this combined. I support lowering taxes for the middle class and lower class. Those are the people that need help the most. They spur our economy more than the wealthy. How so? There's more of us below the $250K bracket than those of you above the $250K bracket. We buy the gadgets in the stores. We need loans to buy cars, homes, recreational devices (Boats, RV's, Motorcycles). Not the wealthy. If the economy makes it hard to buy things, and the country depends on the wealthy to do so, we all fail.

How is this socialism?

In my line of work, I've not met a wealthy person yet that doesn't beat you up on the price of an auto. It's like they expect the huge discounts since they are "above me". The only time they don't beat you up is when the auto is a limited production item, that's a hot ticket.

Its the guy making over 250k a year thats signing our paycheck so we can buy all those things you speak of.  He gets hit and we have to worry about our jobs.  But I know that he'll hit my taxes just like he has here in this state.

And I don't call it socialism but they do push for bigger government and that is a push in the wrong direction.  The government healthcare is more of a socialism style, and I think that is where people are getting that from.

Are you kidding me?  My old company was based in Canada and you should of heard the people complain.  We had one office pushing to get on the healthcare plan that the US employees had since they were close to the border.  Ask anyone who lives on a border town, the come over hear to get what they need.

These and his socialized health care plan are just some of the examples of why people keep saying Obama and his cronies are nothing more than Socialists.

Some of those could be true, or even all.  But I would want to check those facts first.  I'll make sure to look into that.

I've been lookin into it.. and some of it is true.. But...

This is from Snopes.com

QuoteThe Facts
On his campaign Web site, Obama says he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and "will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport and use guns." As CNN reported, Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, told supporters at a Virginia rally on Saturday, September 20, "I guarantee you, Barack Obama ain't taking my shotguns. So don't buy that malarkey. They're going to start peddling that to you. I've got two and if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he's got a problem."

Obama supports reinstating former President Bill Clinton's ban on assault rifles, closing what he calls a loophole that lets people buy handguns at gun shows without the same rigorous background checks as at stores and what his Web site calls "commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them." He has publicly supported the right of local governments to have handgun bans and, as a state senator, cosponsored a failed bill that would have limited handgun sales to one per month.

To support its claims, the NRA ad prints three references at the bottom of the screen — a 2005 Senate vote, a 2004 Senate debate with Republican opponent Alan Keyes and a 1999 article in the Chicago Defender. The vote, which the ad calls an effort "to ban virtually all deer-hunting ammunition," was an unsuccessful effort to expand the legal definition of armor-piercing ammunition to include pistol and rifle rounds that the U.S. attorney general deemed more likely to penetrate body armor than a normal round. In a Senate speech, the amendment's sponsor, Sen. Edward Kennedy, said it was not aimed at ammunition used for hunting. In addition, the vote itself wouldn't have singled out any ammunition — instead leaving the decision on what, if anything, to ban up to the attorney general.

The claim Obama would push a "ban on shotguns and rifles most of us use for hunting" is pegged to this quote from the 2004 debate: "Mr. Keyes does not believe in any limits, from what I can tell, with respect to the possession of guns, including assault weapons that have only one purpose, to kill people. I think it is a scandal that this president did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons ban."

The 1999 article in the Chicago Defender paraphrases a speech by Obama — then a state senator — in which it says he promoted a plan to "increase the federal taxes by 500 percent on the sale of firearm, ammunition [sic] — weapons he says are most commonly used in firearm deaths." Obama's exact words aren't documented. But, as a state senator, Obama would have had no control over federal taxes and, as a U.S. senator, he has neither introduced nor suggested such a plan.
