Whats the law say for tinted Windows?

I would like to get my windows tinted on my truck. I heard that starting Jan 1st that police officers are able to confiscate your vehicle and remove your tint. Is this true? My girl heard this from someone she works with. Know i know that there has to be a few persons of law on here that would be able to shead some light on this topic.  I live in the state of New York.

you would need to ask a local cop, or sheriff.  every state, or city might have different codes for that
