These pictures were taken June 12th at the National Historic Site in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Here's George!!!

A little history for you....

Cannon on the south lawn. To the right, Judge Issac Parker's (The Hangin' Judge) courtroom. To the left, his quarters behind the flag pole.

In 21 years on the bench, Judge Parker tried 13,490 cases, 344 of which were capital crimes. Guilty pleas or convictions were handed down in 9,454 cases. Of the 160 (156 men and 4 women) sentenced to death by hanging, 79 were actually hanged. The rest died in jail, appealed, or were pardoned. The gallows are located on site, and I have lost the picture!

The gallows still stand today. Here's a link to the list of those executed: Fort Smith Executions 1873-1896

To explain the next photo, a disputed boundry.

The marker showing Arkansas territory on one side.

The marker showing Choctaw indian territory on the other (Note the hanging gallows in the background, far right)

Marker placed in 1858.

At the site of the original Fort Smith, on a hill overlooking the meeting place of the Poteau River (Pronounced Poe-Tow, French for "Post") and the Arkansas River. This was a strategic site to watch for Indians.

The Poteau and Arkansas River behind me.

Immaculate Conception Church, built in 1899. Located at the end of old downtown Fort Smith.

George, with me, my house, the Raptor and Corvette

The dollar with my watch collection

Black and White, George soakin' in the pool

Next stop, Colorado!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
