how is the longevity on these things versus sprung shocks? I have always wondered.

I did...punks!. Longevity and durability are two different things. I was asking about the former. ;) Read my muthafu**in post before you muthafu**in reply!

I would be interested in the to see what the shocks weigh also. I would think the Fox shocks would be a tad bit lighter.

I just got done adding Houser +2.25" Long Travel A-Arms and Fox Evol Shocks and plan on taking the quad out this weekend to dial the shocks in. We had this set up on my sons YFZ450 and this combo works GREAT!

As far as how much they weigh, I weighed them compared to my old YFZ450 shocks and the Fox Float Evol shocks weigh about 2 pounds less then the YFZ shocks. If I remember correctly, I think the YFZ shocks weighed 7 lbs each and the Fox shocks weighed 5 lbs. each.

I also contacted Fox this week to find a baseline psi to start with in each of the air chambers. Their customer service was GREAT to work with and very helpful. I inquired about the cost of rebuilding the shocks if needed and they told me around $200 for the pair.

What kind of PSI do they run? Is it something a typical air compressor can handle? like 1-150ish Lbs?

I run mine around 60 psi unladen  for the dunes.  They come with a little hand pump that works great.

Fox,Motowoz,Axis both have their heads in the right places for custom shocks with the floats being the most adjust able (due to the pump) with Motowoz running right behind them with the cross over springs. I'd go with Motowoz , but the floats are a nice setup for sure.  I would be a little afraid the hazards in gnnc racing with a pair of floats because if you ever busted a seal your going to be walking to the truck; whereas, you could finish a race on a pair of conventional shocks.

I come back with my testimony about the fox reliability. I just come back from argentina we rode with my brother for 3540Miles on the argentinian unpaved tracks...and zero issue with the shocks!
I was scared after the air freight because they kept the shocks compressed for one week with their ropes on a pallet but it did leak at all.
So they totalise more than 4500 miles now.

So has anyone used these shocks on trails (woods)? I don't race so I wouldn't really be running them that hard (not more than a race anyways, but lots of whoops)...I would probably keep my stock shocks around just in case.

Jay@RacersEdge

Fox floats are great and I highly recommend them for a hill shooter or duning. The evols are a little more versatile for trails and such. They are light weight and ride great.. Not for a trail rider IMO

So is that a positive or negative for trails? I've been on some long runs but really I usually ride with a group so if I did have a problem I wouldn't necessarily be stranded (although it'd take a good while to get a ride back to the track, grab a stock shock, replace, and ride out)...I don't ride very often either and it's mainly woods with very small jumps but lots of whoops...Starting my shock fund right now but I'd like to know if the Motowoz would be better or if I can splurge on the foxs without worrying about blowing them up going down the trail...

We ride mostly desert trails with a few trips to the dunes every year and these shocks work great on the trails. The best thing about them is that you can adjust on the fly by increasing/decreasing air pressures with the hand pumps that come with the shocks.
