Also keep in mind, dont get anthing any taller than you need. A 7 foot trailer is plenty, unless you need some big ass over head shelfs.

My trailer wont even fit in a 14' garage! Talk about a parasail!

I was planning on buying a 24' haulmark enclosed trailer over the summer, but I ended up going with a 24' flatbed.  The enclosed would have been nice, but I can use the flatbed for so much more.  Plus the price difference was pretty large, the haulmark that I wanted (24'x8') with cabinets in the front, 4' front door and drop down back door was around $8500...I paid $2400 out the door for my 24' flatbed.

I wanted the enclosed so I could throw all of my gear in it while pulling the quads and not have to worry about rain, and I could also store the quads in there....but I couldnt justify it right now for the price difference.  The flatbed is nice for ease of loading, I just throw the ramps on the side and pull the quads up.  It is more than enough room to carry my RZR, wolverine, raptor and a friends quad...and I cant even tell its back there while driving.  If I take it easy, I can still get about 13mpg while pulling the trailer while it is loaded...I couldn't immagine getting better than 8-10 while pulling a similar enclosed trailer.  If/when I re-gear my truck I know I will get a lot better mileage, 38's and 3.73's isnt the best setup for towing.

I sold my enclosed because of that, I averaged 14-16 with it weighing 8000lbs from WA to GA with the same truck Preddy has. I now have a 18ft flatbed and I get 18-20mpg. Like Preddy also said if I need an enclosed trailer I'll just use my friends

I got a 7x16 enclosed pulling with a Silverado 1500 5.3..  Anywhere from 8-11 MPG  But I love it for the storage. If you have stock Swinger you can put 4 quads sideways with alittle room for gear still..

I saw an enclosed trailer for sale that didn't look very tall  ???  I should measure it, it  would only be as tall as the pickup. With a bumper pull trailer is anyone using a torsion bar to aid in trailer manners?

preddy08

Na, you should'nt need it if your under 5000 lbs with a half ton.

my 2500 feels everybit of that 10,000lbs trailer. We really have the bars cranked on it.

I have a 05 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel that pulls my 31' travel trailer. the trailer weighs in unloaded at 9,000 pounds. loaded with the truck and 2 quads I hit the scales at just under 22,000 pounds. I get 13 mpg. not bad when im doing 70 down the road. (I use 1500 pound weight bars)no problems towing all that weight.

Is that a 5'er or a bumper pull?

I have been VERY pissed that I am not getting any better than 9MPG pulling my trailer!

bumper pull. I will get a pic up here in about 3 weeks when I go to sand mountain. all I have done to my truck is a bully dog cold air and exhaust. Im wanting to get a tuner but haven't yet. my buddy has the same year truck on 37" tires and get about 20 on the freeway. I get 23 mpg with just the truck about 70 mph. I can go 630 miles on the stock tank.

What the hell!!! I have the superchip flash paq and a intake and the BEST I have seen was 21 mpg. That was all freeway 70MPH.

When I was stock, I got 16-17.

It still has little sissy stock tires too.

That's your problem right there, "SUPERCHIP" That is a good gas programmer, but for a diesel its not all that. Go with an Edge, Smarty or something along those lines. Exhaust will help a ton especially will your intake. I went with the MBRP stainless 4inch, AER intake, and Smarty Jr. with the 6speed I get about 21-23 and its pretty low geared compared to the automatic. I've gotten 700 miles to a tank a few times.

Peelz

You can't cook any of preddy's special recipe on a flatbed! ;)
Krandall: "peelz. I'll be real with you. As much as I hate on you for soccer, I really don't mind it"

i don't know what i'm going to do yet. i guess if i got a flat bed i could just fab up a leantu kinda deal on there with a tarp and stuff i can get at work. i know that flat beds are way cheaper then enclosed trailers too. i don't know yet.  :'(
