October 27th 2007:

Well, I made an executive decision tonight. that I'm done riding for the year. I decided to start pulling everything off.. clean it up and get ready to start movin parts around the country.

I decided that with my nerfs starting to flake a little bit that I am going to send them with my neighbor who has a friend that does rhino lining, i figure that will be an awesome combo, since they take such a beating.
I'm not to ambitious yet w/ the motor. I pulled the duals off though and started cleaning up the pipes and the cans...

I've been pondering tearin the whole motor out  to get the frame PC'd.. It's something that i've wanted done pretty much since I got the rappy.... but damn that'll be a lot of work

nah, I don't plan on doing anything drastic like yours anyways.. I already know I don't want that much... Right now I AM considering a mild bore though.. Its like.. well...... if I've already got the head off... Why not eh?

But.. It really depends on how far I wanna go... if I do the bore... the frame is comin off for PC'ing.. and if I do THAT.. then I'm going to have the frame gusset'ed. My goal is to have it all done by June. I'd like to run Hare Scrambles next year. So with that said.. I've really gotta get crackin.. Sure its like 8 months away. but seeing i'm only up workin on the quad on weekends.. i got a lot of wrenching time to do.

Thx on the rims! I wish you coulda seen em before the last rally. I didn't have time to make the nice aluminum ring around the paddles.. but that's okay! I really love my black n' Blue theme I got goin..  Black frame would look TO sexy! 

yup, Project X has moved on officially. You don't realize how dirty a bike gets underneath all the plastics, so I've been cleanin off the wires/ all under the seat ect.. it's lookin good.. and it sucks knowing that 1 ride in the mud will KILL it

October 28th 2007:

Well.. Made some more progress today

Then... I've been feeling ambitious.. I polished my radiator (just the top and bottom..) It turned out pretty freakin sweet... even though no one will see it.. I figured it was a good test piece just for that fact..
so.. I since I was having some discoloration on my head/cylinder i decided to give it a try.. here's the results thus far.. (I have a hell of a project ahead of me  )

The first two pics show kind of what I had started with.

I was only using some aluminum polish and steel wool.. I'm going to be investing in some polishing pieces for my dremel to help cut down on both time and damned scrubbin with steel wool

January 5 2008:

Well, It's been a while since I've posted some pics.. Progress has slowed since snow has fallen, but I'm still thinkin about the rappy nearly every day!!!!!

Here's my new pics.. (note: I'm at my parents place so I don't have all the pics between my last shown pics and what i'm showing now BUT.. I have em)

This is a pic of the bare frame.. After looking at what was left after having the motor out. Swinger off... I was like.. Wtf... I might as well go all the way.

I found a powder coater that lives about 20 mins from my place in st paul. called him up told him what I wanted.. I got "Stealth Black" the pics don't do it justice.. It's so dang sexy looking!!!!!   

   

I would have been out in the garage working on it some more, but I got out there tonight, fired up my heater, and about 5 mins later, it died, ran out of propane..... so I said f that and came in, tomorrow and sunday I hope to get it back to a rolling chassis

It's in the works, Bo (VelociRaptor) called and said that the sleeve was backordered (last week) and then found out the company is all together not going to carry the sleeve anymore. He found a new place to order them.. Called 2 days ago. And said mine was #2 to leave his shop. There was one other in front of mine he had to get done.

+2 swing arm shipped out as of the 27th (wednesday)
+2 Axle will be ordered today.
This weekend I'll be tearing the swing arm down pulling the axle out, so I can get the carrier to put in my new swinger

alrighty, after lots of problems with getting everything lined up for getting the new swinger together, it finally is done!!! PICS!!!


This is where I left off last time I updated. Except I got both sides of the a-arms on..

Gettin Ready to tear down the stock swing arm! (NOTE: There are 2 allen screws on the stinkin axle nut.. word of advise!)

Not gonna lie.. the welds are some of the best I've seen on a built swinger...... (sorry slc...)
I was kinda bummed it didn't come with the swinger pivot bearings installed

I decided I'll keep the stock carrier and use that for the new swinger, I decided to start polishing the center (cast aluminum...  ) This is about 1 hour into sanding..



After about 4 hours, I called it GOOD ENOUGH

If your interested Brad @ RPM Axle can machine & install tapered bearings on the stock carrier

no swinger solution yet. Temporary one is I'm going to throw the stock one back on. but that' wont be for about 3 weeks.

I was reading a while back, and remember people saying you couldn't use the stock perch to keep your brake lever w/ the ASV's AND the PowerMadd hand guards.. o' contrair mo fraire!

I ended up using the stock perch and I cut off everything that i didn't need!!  worked out PERFECT!  :wootwoot:
