I edited my post...haha
aww son of a bitch :(

It is why we don't have an SUV.  We would use the awd maybe twice a year, not enough  to warrant the extra price tag, and lower fuel economy. And, the 05' Nissan quest we have has more room in it than the Armada. Ours has a 240 hp V6, it was only 30k as opposed to 50k. Let's not even go into the lower insurance we get. Ok done talking about the "coolness" of a minivan with high school kids.

Sorry, RK, thread jack over. Congrats to your Dad.

i do get what your saying peels, but i dont think you understand why the viper does cost this much and doesnt have the best stereo. think about a benz. a kinda compairable car to this is the sl65 amg. it has a great soundsystem ,cup holders , and all the nice comfort goodies. msrp? 180k. viper msrp? 82k. guess what has better performance???? viper even though the turbo v-12 is nuts

i am the guy who would want all that. I would give up a bit of performance for real world driveability. Not sure I would ever spend 180 large on any car. I have always liked German cars. I will always be a Porsche fan...before they got so expensive. And, I dig cars with a mid or rear engine. i still think a junky old fiero could outhandle alot of cars from today. I liked Jag til ford turned them all into overpriced Taur-asses.  Actually, my taste in cars has changed since we've had kids...Before, I would say " lets get the fastest car" Now: "what's the fastest car I can get with four seats and a DVD system."   Right now, my opinion is somewhat skewed.  When I am older. kids are grown, I wouldn't be shocked to see myself at a viper saleman's desk. But...that is only if there are no 911 gt's left on the lot. ;)

ahhh so you are biased!!!
so your a porsche guy. i do get it now.
you would be very supriesed how drivable and how livable the viper is. dont believe any of the magazines. my dad hasnt driven stick shift in over 10 years. he never drove a viper or any real sports car-ever. he was so comfortable even after the little test drive he took with the salsmen before we left. i say drive one or get a ride in one before you judge. shure, the 911s are great cars but they are IMO just satisfactory cars. the viper is a special day car and an exotic. and there are alot more people then just kids who just stare at it or give us the thumbs up or rush up to it  just to look at it

Not really biased. I got to drive one of the early Vipers. Meh... Needed refinement. Looks like they have done so. I am not a Porsche guy, but I would like to have one. Two blocks down the street, a neighbor is selling his Boxster S. But, again, only two seats and no DVD for the Kids.

My opinion is kinda useless in this market. Someday, maybe? I used to subscrib to all the mags, Car and Driver being my favorite. I don't really follow the industry other than checking the news  etc.

Like I said, down the road, don't be surprised If I am lookin at a Viper.  Or another comparable car.  Enjoy it while you can- My dad bought a VW Karmann Ghia when I was a kid. I though it was cool cause it was the same color as the general lee. WTF! :help:  They sold their Original Mach 1 to get the vee-dub right during the fuel crisis. The Mustang would have been my first car. Fu$%in fuel crisis! It was blue with black racing stripes. Dammit. Had I got that as my first car, I bet my opinions now would be much different  Later.

same stereo as a neon? false
same deck? maybe. but a deck aint a stereo. the stero sounds pretty good. but whens the last time you herd someone buy a viper or even a vette for the stereo on her?

It is the same deck. One of my biggest complaints on Viper.

You pay $80,000 for a car and get the same stereo deck as the guy that bought a Neon, Ram, Durango, Dakota two years ago. Matter of fact, they don't even put that radio into Dodge cars or trucks now. That deck was replaced in Durango, Dakota, Ram, etc.. That's the old style radio.

2008 does over a GPS unit now, I would have to slap an Alpine or Kenwood touch screen unit in the car though.

german cars ae over-engineered.  That is what I am looking for.

And badrap, I am talking old porsches. Mid 80's and older.  I really like the 914. Sheer handling.

My point, exactly. If I am in a $80k car, I wanna know it instantly. Not that Viper is a bad car.  Spend all that money on building the drivetrain, then toss in a parts bin special stereo, gauges, controls etc.  I just don't get it. ??? Again, to each his own.

In the mid 90's, my dad owned a '89 Porsche 928 and traded it for a '90 model 911 twin turbo.

ERMAHGERD.

Amazing car. It would rail a corner!

sweet. I like cars that handle well. I had more fun in a Fiero with a 4 cylinder once. Junk, true, but fun to drive. Blip the throttle around a corner, it would hang the rear end out. Mid engine oversteer....Fun.

I did consider Viper before ordering the Corvette. I was looking for a pre-owned one though. They were still in the mid to upper 60's for one two years old though, and I just thought that was way too much for a Dodge product. My second choice was a CLK 55 AMG. The closest Benz store is an  hour away, and the cost of servicing that car is expensive. I went with the Corvette for four reasons.

1. I work for a Chevrolet dealer, so I get employee pricing. I bought a new car for less than I could have bought a 10,000 mile used Corvette for.
2. Warranty. 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty on the engine, transmission, and driveline.
3. Insurance, Fuel economy, and cost of ownership. The Corvette was the lowest of all three I considered based on the national average.
4. Best bang for the buck. 0-60 in 4 seconds, 0-100 in 9 seconds, and 190 mph top speed for under $50,000!

excellent reasons.

#4 is my main objective when purchasing anything.  Raptor slides right in there nicely.

Like I was telling RK earlier, My opinion is skewed because main objective has changed to "does it have a dvd entertainment system and 4 seats?"
As the Kids get older, i will have a sports car in the driveway.
I am into nostalgic cars, too. I would love a little european roadster. The boxster for sale down the street is lookin nice. Those are relatively cheap. Think he only wants 30 for it.  :grin_nod: But...so small. 5 years ago, i would have bought it.
Krandall: "peelz. I'll be real with you. As much as I hate on you for soccer, I really don't mind it"

Boxster is a neat car, and can be purchased pretty cheap for a car a couple of years old.

You may consider the Cayman too. You can buy those for $15-20,000 less a couple of years old too.
