Peels I feel the same way! I am very busy with school most of the time and only get to ride twice a month as well.

If the I shock kit does not stun me with its super low price, I am leaning toward the Motowoz/ASR pro series combo, or maybe JD arms/motowoz.

I agree that elkas are great, but I also agree they are not the same as they used to be. A few years back my fully adjustable triple rate elka dune editions were near the very top (just next to the best TCS/axis setups). Now it seems like elkas have gone down in price considerably, and their valving/technology is staying the same (not advancing like everyone elses). Just my take on it. If I could get a SMOKING deal on some front elkas I would very well consider that! But I am not going to save 10-20% on the new cost knowing motowoz is pretty much the best.

And to the most recent post ^ No Elkas are not BAD shocks! They are really nice shocks! (And I love black shocks, so I think the black/red combo looks sweet). BUT there are some new companies with good new technology (taking the "older school" Y2K technology a few steps further).

I guess you can compare to buying a computer...ya you could spend 800 on a computer that was the "best" in 2004 that will probably be pretty damn good...OR you can spend 1400 and get a computer that is twice as fast with the newest processor, the fastest HD, the most ram etc etc/

One could argue that they may not USE the full potential of the more expensive computer...BUT in everyday use you WILL be using SOME of that potential. Its like me saying I dont like the motowoz due to the fact that I am not  an A class MX rider pushing myself to the limit EVERY day on my quad. Just because I trail ride, run the fields in 4th gear around big corners the ride/handling might be 10% better over the slightly cheaper shocks, even at my lower level!

Sorry that was probably confusing..but that is my take on it all!

And even knowing motowoz is the best out there I am still considering the cheaper I shock kit...but ONLY if it is considerably cheaper. I dont want to get the 2nd best shocks for 100 bucks less when the best out there was only 100 bones away!

My only reason to go with the motowoz over the elka elites was I couldn't find anyone saying anything bad about motowoz (and still waiting).  But if you do not ride that much that does play a part in the way you want to go.  I haven't been able to ride as much this year but I'm sure glad that when I do I have the set up I went with.

good point...

Are there alot of bad experiences with Elka's? I haven't really heard any, other than one or two that got their valving wrong. But, Elka resolved their problems. I never heard anything bad about motowoz, either, haven't heard anything at all, really.  ??? Other than from you, and one other guy over at RF. Just a matter of research, I guess.  Maybe it is just a matter of marketing. Every quad you see in ads, and magazines has Elkas or Fox.

You hit the nail on the head there.  Its all about the marketing.  They are passing out free shocks to those racers like crazy.  We all want what we see the pros using.  And now motowoz is starting to do that.

Yeah, must be that elka has been trading quantity for quality a bit. Not the best idea. It is easier to move a product upscale, than downscale. You will eventually lose business, if you are not careful. Hope they get back on track.

I agree, if it is only a few hundred bucks different for something waaay better, I think I would just save and wait.

yep socal. If motowoz is doing that, let's hope they don't allow quality to suffer for the sake of sales. They will definitely not be the first company to do it.

I have been seeing alot of quads with the fox floats on them. What is the deal with those?

I suppose the best would be Ohlins? You never see those, except on the higher dollar quads.

What the pros are using does'nt mean shit! They get paid to use that stuff. Look at everyone using FMF pipes, and the standard Renthal handlebars. Its all about the money and not whats best.
Just a little 81hp trail bike.

I really like the fox but I do not want to get a quad with air shocks.  It would suck to blow a valve 20 miles from the truck.

+1  Very true.  They just rip it off after every race and put on new.

Yeah fellas, that is what I was gettin at. That kinda stuff makes groups like this a necessity! Input from the people that actually use the stuff in real life, not once and throw it away.

Alright well I have FINALLY ironed this out!

Rear shock: Elka dune edition triple rate fully adjustable with remote ressy. Got it off ebay for 265 shipped. It is already valved for my weight, and only has one season of riding on it!

Front shocks: Fully adjustable Motowoz from KBM (ordering soon). Those are a little over 1,000

A-arms: well I will disclose this when I for SURE have everything nailed down. Through a weird chain of events im ending up with some brand new Houser +2.25 High Ground clearance Sli-Cast a-arms. These are not even made yet! They are housers new design and the raptor arms will be done within the next 2-4 weeks. I got a stellar price on them as well. Once everything goes through I will disclose how I did it so everyone else can have a shot at it too :)

If you go to the houser site and click on Honda -> 450r you can see the new style sli-cast arms (since they have not finished the production of the yamaha ones, you can at least see what they look like as the honda ones are done now). They are very trick looking!

For now I am going to run stock brake lines...eventually I will get some black stainless lines and some red annodized clamps. That will be after my wallet is done crying (probably over the winter).

Thanks everybody for all the help!!

Ok I will mention the rear shock. Does that have something to do with the valving on the fronts?? Was just trying to figure that out.

I will send paypal very soon! Just moving some funds around to make sure the money is where it needs to be.
