luckily i have a lot of experience on riding already but the only thing i really dont know how to do is jump

blip the throttle slightly at top of jump to keep front wheels up a bit. Use your body, throttle, and brakes to adjust attitude in the air.

Dont blip that could get you in trouble. I just hold the throttle steady to get a feel of how the jump wants to through you.

I went to a MX track saturday, damn that fun shit!! MX track cut into a natural rock quarry. Some of the jumps could be classified as a hill climbs!!

I hold it steady, then give a tiny little blip, my bike likes to go nose down on it's own. Not a giant amount of throttle, just slightly. Enough to maintain a level flight or slightly nose up. Depends on the jump. THere are some where I ride that are pretty hairy, and you don't want any throttle, unless you like sittin in the mud.

If you slow your rebound on your rear shock a bit you would be able to just hold a steady throttle. Your rear shock is returning to normal to fast, thus kicking it to high in the air.

I'll work on that. I need to lower the preload as well. However, The nut seems to be frozen. I know nothing about these things. New rear shock is on my wish list.   +1 to ya. And...I apologize for the thread jack.

I had a 05 Troy Lee and it was a great quad. Like preddy08 said get rid of that stupid air box and go with a clamp on. They make some good after market air boxes for it also. The exhaust will not fit on all year Predators either. The motor was moved back an 1.5 inches to lighten the front end in 2005, so the 03 and 04 exhaust won't match up on the factory mounting holes. I thought I'd save some money too and bought a full yoshi exhaust and found out the hard way and had to fab some crap up. The quad should be a good machine for you and I'd buy it for that price.

are there any problems with the 2004 polaris predators that anyone knows about? i found one for 1550 and i know it doesnt have reverse but i think i could sacrifice it for that much money

Thats a hella deal. I had a 04 and so does a buddy of mine. With no internal mods it should be pretty reliable.

Theres a REAL clean predator around Omaha for 2000 bucks. Its an 04. 99.9% its stright deal too. If interested I could pick it up for ya and meet ya some where.

thanks so much preddy but drivin half way or more to omaha from here would cost me like 1/4 the price of the bike 
im still lookin around i do have some questions about the stock suspension on the 04 predator from what i hear the anti dive anti squat suspension isnt all that great what do you think about it

Thats JUST the 03 if they are ridden HARD or raced.

How in the flying FERK did you break an 04 frame??? I have rolled mine 8-10 times down a NASTY hill. Hit trees mid fourth gear that stoped the bike and sent me into a superman. Both mine and my buddys are 04's and have had the CRAP beat out of them. People still five me shit about hitting trees, I was talking about my raptor to a riding buddy and he asked with 72hp I will be able to make it to the top of the tree instead of half way up.

I hit a YFZ head on with my predator and it did 3700 dollars worth of dammage and all I got was a lightly bent up bumper.

If you break an 04 frame its either a manufacture defect or your doing something that a quad was NEVER intended to do.

04 frames are strong, dont let anyone eles fool you.
