Just wondering, what is the point to owning a tarantula or a emporior scorpion?  What do you get out of owning a pet like that.  I can see why people have dogs and cats but I can't figure those out.

I dont know I guess they're just kinda cool to watch. It's not like I can snuggle up or play fetch with the snake either but I enjoy his company. Krandall is right though. It's like owning a fish only it's not in water  :grin_nod:

i'm just curious if anyone has any exotic pets such as spiders, scorpions, snakes(not to exotic but anyway), or anything else?

i'm wanting to get a tarantula, a emporior scorpion, and a ball python someday and i was wondering if anyone had any of these pets?

if so then how good of a pet are they?

have you ever been bitten or stung by them?

do you have any pics?

and what did you name them?

or if you have any other pet that most people don't have post them up in here too.

I think Jenee' Springinsguth owns a Sasquatch!!!  ???

If you're getting a young snake all you need is a 10 gal. tank. I keep mine in one with some bedding, plastic branches, a ceramic log and a water dish. He also has a light to give him some heat. The pet store you go will have everything you need to keep the snake happy. Read this    http://www.kingsnake.com/ballpythonguide/     it should give you plenty of info on the proper care and housing conditions for a ball python. I called to see what they were going for and they told me $40-$50 is average and that you shouldn't pay over $75. I also found out these suckers live for 20-30 years  He may out live me

because it's something different. like you raptor you didn't want to build it like everyone elses right? everyone has a dog or cat, but how many people can say i own a scorpion.  and i want one of all those animals that i stated in the OP because i simple think they are cool.

My mom works for the sherrifs office in my home town, she was telling me about a deputy a month ago. Got a call about possible drug dealing @ a house.  He goes up, knocks on the door.

"Just a Minute!" He hears..

He says "Ma'am, *** County Sheriffs Office open the door.

"Just a Minute!"

Ma'am, if you don't open the door we're going to come in.

"Just a Minute"

Breaks down the door.. Cockatiel in a cage..... JUST A MINUTE!

True story!
