My brothers old 250x had a DG pipe. It was inset in the frame quite a bit. he ended up burning his leg BAD, was riding in shorts, he has a nasty scar from it.

Cans look great and the header fabrication skills are clearly evident.

I have a few observations and concerns.

1) Routing looks a little unconventional, but from your explanation I understand why.
2) The header pipe size looks very big and you say it was done with 2" SS. A ton of R & D goes into exhaust pipe sizes to get the best combinationn of flow and velocity for a specific application. My 460 cu in. Ford doesn't have primary header pipes that big and you have two of them in the one cylinder. I might have gone a little closer to the 1.375" - 1.5" size like other manufacturers.
3) I'd be inclined to get a heat guard on. Scars can have a great story but.

comment on 2).  I was thinking the exact same thing..........and every body i talked to told me barkers start with 2.25" headers and big bores went as big as 3" figured 2" was keeping it somewhere between stock and barkers......... not looking for every ounce of power just the cool factor of hmf duals.

we'll see how they tune when dynoed. Thanks for the comments.

very nice. one of a kind...

I think they must have been thinking core size in the silencer b/c I just put a caliper on my std core Barker header pipes and they're a tad under 1 1/2", 1.490 to be exact. Further along the pipe, after the connection they begin to megaphone up to about 2 1/2". Inside dimension of the tip is 2", so I suspect the core size of the silencer is also 2".
They should sound pretty good.  Riding buddy has an HMF single and it sounds nice.

Here's a good pic of the barker duals.

My sparks exhaust comes out of the head at 1.75" then collects into a 2.25" then steps up to a 2.5"

Just a little 81hp trail bike.

Magz

ahh cool............ thanks preddy!
I was under the impression the barkers started at 2.25" from header....... damm troy and pat.
maybe I got confused somewhere along the line.......lol.
thats why i asked for 2" lol

Krandall

guess you just need to build a BIG motor.........

oh darn.

WOW, that's interesting, thanx for sharing. I questioned them about pipe sizes on some of their systems with the following response.
"The standard core & big core are 1.375"-1.875"-2.00", and all the XX6 systems are 1.375"-2.00"-2.25".
Mind you this was a few years back and it looks like things have changed. Again, very interesting.

Ran freaken good this sunday when I took it out.......butt dyno is happy :woot:
even contemplated not changing a thing. hope the exhaust note doesnt change when I mod it more.

Magz

after testing and some issues........... i've ran it about 4 times now...........WOT..........

and the exhaust note did change........as troy woud put it " it sounds meaner that cat shit"

dyno graph soon to follow :flex:
