I tried to remove my cam the other day and cant get it to come out. I removed the cam gear, tied the chain to the side and took off the bolts holding everything in. Took out the decomp. mechinism and removed the rocker arms. I'm not sure what else is holding it in but I realized after I did all that that I never put the motor at TDC. could that be whats holding it in? Do i have to install everything back in then get the motor at TDC so everything moves together?

If you have the chain off, gear off, cam retention plate off and the rockers out it will just about fall out. I will say that the lobes on the cam have to be ligned up with the two reliefs in the outer bearing housing for them to slip past it. Just spin the cam over slowly while slightly tugging on the cam and it will come out. If the disassembly took place while the cam gear was at TDC then that shouldnt be an issue since thats were the reliefs are cast for removal of the cam.

I removed everything you mentioned but the motor was not at TDC. I ve tried pulling on it hard while spinning and it just wont budge. Its been sitting for awhile in a very cold garage I dont know if that matters.
