So a friend of mine brought me his raptor after his 3rd gear broke. He had rebuilt everything himself. once it was finished and he went to start it up he told me that neutal felt non-existant and 1st gear would bind the motor up to where it would stall. 2nd worked fine. but 3rd would also bind the motor up. 4th and 5th also worked fine.  So he gets it apart an nothing seems out of the ordinary. When He finally brings it to me for a 2nd opinion nothing looks bad at all.  After we put the trans all back together an start turning it by hand same feeling. so I said i will take it to work an check to see if any of the shafts are bent or anything like that.  As I am taking thegears off of the shafts the last gear in the pic doesn't budge.  I am assuming by the way the manual looks and the micro fische that this gear does in fact come off and is supposed to spin freely on the shaft when its installed. and the gear itself does look as tho its worn and there are marks on it.

the gear im speakin of has the red arrow pointing at it

That is the 5th gear pinion but i didnt see a sleeve inside it to allow it to turn freely once it is on the shaft. When i had mine apart i can remember if that one turned or was grooved on the shaft. Either way it should come off. It would be hard to put that big of a bind on 5th gear to jam it on the shaft ???
