i just got my raptor, it was in 100% running/riding order when i got it. first thing i did, was tear it down to the frame for pc'ing/modding, ect. the battery was sitting on top of a cardboard box, i put it in the bike for 2 days with a tender on it. the prior 3 weeks to that, it had nothing/was sitting there.

so i go to fire it for the first time, and i just get buzzing. the car charger i have showed the battery almost bottomed out on the power. i took it to yamaha and it passed a load test. they said it was at 72% health. they put it through some thorough charge/plate cleaning they told me over the weekend.

so with that, i just tried to fire the bike and im still getting buzzing. is this just a battery that took a crap out of nowhere? i cant think of anything else to check? if so, where is the best battery for longevity/cost? i see the yuasa ones on rmatv for 100 and i live by a batteries plus.

i read in the maintenance section and saw some suggestions from batteries plus. so i guess ill drag the oem battery in there with me and see what they stock.

yes, before i took it in to be load tested i threw the car charger on it.

bike turned over and ran fine once it got going. i only ran it for like 30 seconds, first start with new cam/piston.

you should verify that the decompression mechanism is installed properly and in working order. (rounded end is facing outward from the cam)

could be also cam timing, clearances issues, but I am more of toward my first guess.

i will verify that before i buy another battery. it does crank easily though with the charger on it though. the gauge is showing the battery almost go dead just priming the fuel pump though. i think its just shot.

That's what happend when my battery died. It was slowly dieing over the winter and I just replaced mine 2 weeks ago. I was going to go to Batteries Plus, but said F it and went to the dealership, got a replacement one for $94 for a sealed gel. Put in and was ready to rock.

yeah i read your thread, thats how i got the batteries plus link. it has more cranking amps then stock, looks like a stout battery. it is 72 dollars.

my dealership wants 140 dollars for an oem replacement? lol. im going to pick it up on thursday for 71 at bp. this one is the original battery in an 06 bike. so its probably just due.
