So I love the FCI with box...but I dont have the extra cash laying around for it.

I am in the midst of installing
RJ cam
CNC Head with +1 valves & beehive springs
+3 TB
Diamond 11:1 piston
Evac valve
Dynatek with custom curves from DL700

And I already had:
Barkers
PC III
Pro Design intake (with the coke can sized K&N!)

I knew I could really benefit from some extra filter size, with the added flow capability on the head/TB.

I bought the Fuel ATV adaptor from DL700 (Thanks Daniel!)
This adaptor is HUGE! It obviously uses the stock intake tube but utilizes a 4.5 inch filter flange. I ride trails and still need a box so I decided to take a heat gun to the box and expand it so I could run the box.

The heat gun was hard to do on the box as the thicker areas took forever to heat up, while the thinner areas were about ready to melt like butter! I ended up hacking off one of the mounts (will run it as is, and if extra rigidity is needed ill JB weld on a new strap). I think with the 3 original mounting tabs, plus being secured to the intake tube its not going anywhere.

The filter (I like foam..so bought no toil) dosnt even fit in the stock box...lol

Here is a pic of the box untouched with the FUEL adaptor in it. You can see how on the right side there is NO room for a filter flange, let alone the actual thickness of the filter itself.

After a buddies help and an hour of messing with the heat gun I managed to massage the box on both sides and the bottom, adding space to A: allow the filter to actually FIT in the box and B: get some air flow on the entire filter surface (so its not smashed against the bottom of the box).

Here is the final product! Dosnt look all that different from a picture but we expanded the box quite a bit.

My total cost:
35 shipped from DL for the adaptor
17 before shipping for the no toil (I actually bought two so I can have an oiled spare, and also a cleaning/oil kit).
__ Total __
52 bucks :)

Now to get the rest of my build together! I am dying to go from mid 40's HP up to 60+ :)

lol see if I never get to actually ride this beast I wont have to worry about catching anyone!

I hope when I get this thing back together with a map it runs like a champ and does not let me down. I have sunk WAY too much cash and time into this thing for it not to perform like a raped (but reliable) ape!

Maybe I should start marketing my own intake... :)

This is one of those things where the first time you do it, it does not look that great and is a paint to do. After the first time you can do it again in 1/3 of the time and make it look twice as good!
